Want To Grow Your Number Of Readers? These Apps Are Going To Help

by Harsh Agrawal

When you start a blog, the first point to think about is what you want to write about. Next, you must create great content that is engaging and which people will want to read. After you have written a great post with an eye-catching title, you must now make sure people are actually aware of your blog. You are competing with thousands of blogs in the digital space and must make sure yours stands out. The following tools are aimed at increasing your reader base by making it easier to bookmark your blog and many other important features.

1. Pocket

This is an app that helps readers save interesting articles that they come across on the internet. In addition to articles, it also helps you save videos. Once content has been saved onto Pocket, it can be accessed, even when offline, from a number of devices including phone, computer or tablet. With over 22 million users, Pocket will allow readers to save links to your blog posts which they can read later.

Making your content accessible to as many people as possible will have a positive effect on the overall number of readers your blog attracts. People have limited time these days and Pocket will convert your post into a minimalist version that readers can access later when they have more time to read.

2. Feedly:

This useful tool aggregates news from different web browsers and displays them in one place so you can access everything from your mobile device for both iOS and Android devices. It’s a great app for bloggers as it allows readers to add your blog to their must-read list. All you have to do is click on the +add icon that sits on the top right part of your page to search for your favorite websites, using a keyword, RSS feed, or URL. Once you find the page, you can add it to your must-read list. Users can add your blog to their must-read list and then receive regular updates of new content every time they log on. Users can also recommend your blog posts to other Feedly users, thereby allowing you to see which of your articles do better than others. To grow a loyal base of readers, this app will be useful for bloggers.

3. Tube Buddy

If you are a content creator on YouTube, then this is a tool you must have. It is a browser extension which adds a layer of tools on top of your YouTube page. It allows you to make changes to your videos which wouldn’t be possible on YouTube. A few examples of  the actions you can take on Tube Buddy include:

Publish content easily to Facebook making it easier to monetize your content across social networks and making it easier for people to discover your content.

Customize how your video looks when you embed it and since YouTube only gives you limited options to embed videos, this is a great way to customize videos.

Customize messages in various parts of YouTube by entering messages in your words and Tube Buddy will send it on your behalf, saving time and effort.

Easily edit videos in a list without having to click on My Videos every time for editing another video.

The tool supports all the major browser types including Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari. The basic features are free to use and if you want to access advanced features then you can get a paid license.

Cost effective, fast and with an endless list of freelancers, it’s easy to see why Fiverr is one of the largest global marketplaces for services.

Fantastic post! I wasn’t aware how pocket worked. I don’t know if I want to get involved in another site right now so would adding pocket to the share bar be beneficial enough for readers to share to their pocket?

    • Janice Wald

Thanks for writing! I’m not sure of the answer. Perhaps Harsh knows.

    • Harsh

      Hey Dgkaye
Here is how I use Pocket & might give you few ideas of your own:

Download Pocket app on your smartphone.
Install Pocket Chrome addon on your browser
Whenever you are working online & come across an interesting article, instead of reading it right away, simply use the addon (Just takes one click) to save the article in the pocket app. Now, you can continue with the work you are doing rather than distracting yourself by reading the article.
You can set a dedicated time for yourself to read the article on your smartphone Pocket app.
This saves a lot of time & improves productivity. Also, it supports offline reading. So when you are travelling via flight, simply use the app to read all the articles that you have saved for reading it later.

      Hope it helps!

  8. Nirodha Abayalath

I installed TubeBuddy once but, it is a bit complicated for me. If you can, please explain that extension with an another article.
    Thanks!

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Nirodha,
Thanks for writing. I am not familiar with the tool. I will ask the author to respond.
      Janice

    • Harsh

      Hey Nirodha
I can relate to your this. The features offered by Tubebuddy is overwhelming initially but once you start using all the feature one by one, it would become easier. I would recommend start with Tag explorer feature. This will help you find those tags which will make your videos rank higher. I have been using it for a while & have seen tremendous growth.
Here is a post (Do watch the embedded videos too) that might help you to get started:

    Hi Cathy,
Thanks for the compliments on the article. Harsh did a great job. I will tell him you have questions about the post.
    Janice

  12. Harsh Agrawal

    @Cathy
The best way to go like this:

    1) Add Pocket sharing buttons (Most of the social media sharing plugin supports it)
They also have a publisher dashboard that let you see your most popular posts on Pocket: https://getpocket.com/publisher/dashboard

    2) Feedly: You can have Feedly subscription button on your blog. This would help users to subscribe to your blog updates on Feedly. http://feedly.com/factory.html

    3) TubeBuddy is chrome addon. So you need to install & watch their getting started videos to start using it.

    Hope it helps!
