StumbleUpon Group

Bloggers can get their links stumbled for free.According to writer Sue Coletta, StumbleUpon will send more traffic to your blog than Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit combined.

On October 24, a friend and I stumbled each other’s links. On October 25, StumbleUpon was my leading source of traffic. I have never had to wait longer than two weeks to see dramatic results. It works!

For instructions on how to use StumbleUpon, please click the link to my StumbleUpon tutorial:

How to Make Blog Traffic Skyrocket with StumbleUpon

Once you have an account and know how to use this social networking site, there is a catch. You can’t stumble your own article.

This group is designed to solve that traffic-inducing obstacle. All I ask in return for getting you mind-blowing traffic is that you subscribe to my blog, MostlyBlogging.

Directions:

  1. Subscribe to my blog.
  2. Leave a link to an article (not your blog) you would like stumbled (liked) in the comment section.
  3. I will add the link to the group list with the date it was added.
  4. I will stumble links left here (add them to StumbleUpon).
  5. I am encouraging the other members of this group to stumble each other’s links as well including mine, the MostlyBlogging.com links.  All you do is click “Add a page” at Stumbleupon, and you will be able to stumble each other’s articles. I have found a direct correlation between the amount of articles I stumble and the amount of traffic I get from the site.
  6. Share this page on your social media, so that we get more group members.
  7. When you start seeing you are getting traffic from StumbleUpon on your dashboard – stats – referrers, please return here and let us know in the comments section.

Testimonials

1. Dear Janice,

This method is absolutely AMAZING. I got 2000 more visitors yesterday than normal and today as well… I find Stumbleupon to be the most time-saving tool for creating traffic! askdeniza.com

2.

StumbleUpon brings bloggers great traffic

3. Right you are. My Stumble Upon referrals just went from 0 to 8 and 31. Thanks. notesfromtheuk.com

4. Yesterday I received 77 views from Stumble!! I am amazed and I don’t amaze easily. You guys have made me a believer. Danny Ray, dreambigdreamoften.wordpress.co

5. Here is my November 2 Screenshot of my traffic referrers. As can be seen, I received 41 hits from StumbleUpon. Exciting!

The screenshot shows StumbleUpon produces daily mass traffic.

Additional Opportunity

The same situation applies with Reddit. The site has the potential to bring mass traffic to your blogs, but you are frowned upon for adding your own article there.

If you need instructions about how Reddit works, click the link to my Reddit tutorial:

How to Get the Kind of Blog Traffic You Want with Reddit

Michael Rios is starting a Reddit group. He has graciously offered to post our links on Reddit for us in the applicable Reddit subreddits.  To get on his Reddit group list, click the graphic below. It contains a link that will take you to his site where you can sign up for his group if you are following his blog.

Michael explains our goals, to help bloggers, and offers a further testimonial that these sites work on his post Is Your Blog Getting the Attention You Want?

Click the link to get blog traffic from #StumbleUpon and #Reddit.

Michael and I hope you will take advantage of both these opportunities.

By joining the StumbleUpon group you are also subscribing to Mostly Blogging’s email list.

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Cicely,
Michael and I are also excited about our ventures. However, we agreed getting the mass traffic from StumbleUpon and Reddit would be a courtesy we would give our subscribers. I took the liberty of adding your Email to the subscriber box on my site. If you could just take a moment to activate your subscription in your Email, as soon as I get notification that you subscribed, I will be happy to stumble your link for you.
      Janice

      • Cicely

        Hi Janice,

Sorry about that! I went ahead and confirmed my subscription. Thank you so much! 🙂

          • Jackie

So glad I have found your blog, Janice. You have helped me in so many ways trying to get my blog off the ground. It is onetopknotmama.com and I would love it if you shared!

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Gary!
Great to see you! You’ve been stumbled! By the way, I am glad you are excited about your idea to help bloggers. Come back and let me know if you get traffic from this. Because people here have stumbled my articles, StumbleUpon is my leading source of traffic today!
      Janice

  1. Deniza

    Dear Janice,

I will stumble as many posts as I can 🙂 Thank you for creating these opportunities. I am so glad I have met you!!

Below is the latest post I would like to get stumbled 🙂
We can add more in the future, right?

    • Janice Wald

Awww… Thanks Deniza! I feel the same way. I stumbled your article. Yes, you can add more. We need permalinks. Sorry, I didn’t put that in the instructions. Thanks for your interest in this group and all your support across the blogosphere.
      Janice

    • Just Plain Marie

Deniza, I stumbled your post. Wow – that is packed with information. A LITTLE bit mind-glazing because there is so very much to take in, but that’s okay – that’s why we stumble, save and bookmark posts to come back to them!

      • Deniza

Thank you, dear Marie! Yeah I know it is a lot of information at once. But- in the following articles I will provide nutritional tips related to Hunger Hormones/Leptin etc. and I think it is crucial to understand why you have to eat a certain way and how it works in our body 🙂

I have some easier to understand posts to come as well 🙂

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Ellen,
Please don’t give up on StumbleUpon. Every time someone (just one person) stumbles my link, I start getting traffic from SU. Today it is my leading source of referral traffic because people here graciously stumbled my link. I predict you will be back here telling us that it worked.
I stumbled your article for you. Thank you for the compliments on my idea.
      Janice

    • Just Plain Marie

Oh, Ellen, those search terms are hilarious. For some reason my blog is not showing up in search engines, but a previous blog had the *weirdest* search terms. You stare at the screen and wonder what was going through their minds to type that. I stumbled your hilarious post.

      • Ellen Hawley

Thanks! And having laughed over other people’s search terms, I have to admit I pause a minute before I type in my own and wonder who’s going to read them and laugh themselves silly.

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Jan,
You have been stumbled! Thanks for joining our group. It is my pleasure to help the people in my community. I am happy to be able to provide perks for my followers.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

That would be wonderful Debbie. The more people that stumble links, the more traffic for the stumblers and the people stumbled! Thanks for the help and your kind words about my idea. I added your link to StumbleUpon for you.
      Janice

    • Just Plain Marie

Debbie, I stumbled that. Good tips – I need to fix up many of my descriptions!

    • Janice Wald

I would love to! Thank you for your interest! Could you please take just a moment to subscribe to my blog? The group was to be a perk for my subscribers.
      Thank you!
      Janice

      • Dermot (BrainSponge)

Hi Janice, I did subscribe and confirm before posting the comment. I’ve subscribed under my blog email brainsponge@… (I’m a bit wary of posting email addresses because of bots)
If it hasn’t registered please let me know and I’ll subscribe again.

        • Janice Wald

          Hi Dermot,
I am sorry about the initial confusion. I did get the notice. Thank you for following my blog. I love your blog name, by the way. I stumbled your article for you. Nice to meet you today.
          Janice

          • Dermot

Thanks Janice! I received my first referral from StumbleUpon yesterday!

I’m catching up on stumbling the list now.

          • Janice Wald

Thanks for the help Dermot. About your traffic from StumbleUpon: Isn’t it exciting to see?
            Janice

  2. Adrian

I hit enter too soon. I did want to say that I’ve seen very good results with Triberr. I think you are on there as well. Can you invite me onto your Tribe?

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Adrian,
I am on Triberr. However, I haven’t used it in almost a year. Thanks for writing. I still look for you on SITS and see you there sometimes. Great to hear from you today.
      Janice

  3. Debby Gies

This is fascinating stuff. I really didn’t want another social site to look after but I’m going to join up. I have to admit I find it quite confusing, so I’ll join up, see if I get the gist and be back here to share links. Thanks to Sue and Michael too for all their input. 🙂 PS Janice, I’m stilling filling in my lifestory to comment here. Wish we’d find a cure for this. 🙂

    • Janice Wald

My tech helper that set up my site for me did not respond to my request for help. I am going to try to contact CommentLuv directly. Thanks for the reminder.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Debby,
SU is pretty easy. Read my tutorial I put on the page. If you have any questions, ask me. By the way, Wayne didn’t remember the Grey’s Anatomy episode!

    • Janice Wald

      Debby,
John Doe says if you only put in your name and not your Email, you won’t have to put in all your info. Can you please try that and let me know if it works? His name still comes through.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi,
I am not sure if these are “safe for work”. Group members have the option of saying “no, the article is not safe for work. and still stumble your articles.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi,
      Sorry,
11:20 on a school night, and other people are waiting. I just stumbled #2. I will do the others when I have more time.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Janice

  4. Debby Gies

Well I’m back 🙂 Check out my blog Janice. I went, I saw, I conquered. I join Stumbleupon, not sure what I did there, not sure how to find friends yet. But I followed Sue’s directions of how to make a button on my social shares on my blog and I did it! So I’m ready to join you. I’ve ‘liked’ your post to my page, my first one! Here’s a link to my latest post if you’d like to stumble it, and thanks! 🙂

Thank you so much for your interest; please subscribe to MostlyBlogging and I will be happy to add you your links for you.

I am already subscribed to your blog as I receive your email updates. Is there something else I need to subscribe too ? Thanks

        • Janice Wald

          Hi,
Great! Thank you! However, you are coming in as “Anonymous.” Who is this?

Hi no worries ! no rush ! I was just a bit confused that’s all. Thanks

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Claire,
I tried to add your blog, and I got a message that you were already subscribed! Thank you!
I will stumble your links for you when I get home from work. I have to work this evening (Parent Conferences), so if it is not tonight, it will be tomorrow. Thank you for interest, I am sorry for my initial confusion, and welcome to my community and our StumbleUpon group!
      Janice

      Hi,
I stumbled your first link for you. I will do more each time I go back to the group page.

      Hi Leisel,
So great to see you here!
I stumbled your article! Remember to come back and let us know if you start getting traffic.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

You are right Leisel. I was busier than usual this week. We had Parent Night at school Funny you knew that!
      Janice

  5. Scarlet Pen

I found your link on Michael’s site. I noticed you don’t have a “follow” option on your blog and that you must subscribe via email. Is that correct? I prefer updates in my reader than receiving email notifications, but I will use the email option if that’s the only one available.

I chose some of my most popular posts in the links below, so maybe you will think one is worth sharing:

      Hi Scarlet,
      1. I am sorry you are having trouble subscribing to my blog. Your Email came in with your comment, so I took the liberty of adding your Email to the “subscribe” box which at the top of the right sidebar on the screen at my blog.
I stumbled your first link for you. I will do more each time I come to the StumbleUpon group page.
If you could please activate your subscription to my blog in your Email, I would appreciate it. Thanks and nice to meet you,

  6. Tobe Damit

I stumbled Cicley’s post. Which other one can I Stumble for you guys?

  7. Tobe Damit

Ok I did Alexandra, Leslie, Scarlet Pen and Leisel. Anyone else I should do?

    • Janice Wald

Thank you so much for the help with the stumbling, Tobe. I really appreciate it!

  8. Deniza

    Dear Janice,

this method is absolutely AMAZING. I got 2000 more visitors yesterday than normal and today as well (until now).

I have stumbled all pages linked here yesterday, now I will check if there are new ones.
I guess stumble upon liked the fact that I added so many pages to its list and is rewarding me? 🙂

Anyways, if you could add this post to the list as well, I would be thankful 🙂
    http://askdeniza.com/hit-all-muscle-fibers-lower-body-edition/

Have a great day! xoxo Deniza

    • Janice Wald

      Deniza!
Wow! Incredible! I am going to start a Testimonial Section on the StumbleUpon group page and add your comment!
I KNEW it, but 2,000 in such a short time even surpasses my expectations. Thank you for sharing that!
At any rate, I stumbled your article. Thanks for all the help stumbling everyone’s articles. Other people are reporting that they are experiencing success too. Congratulations again!
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Deniza,
StumbleUpon has been my leading referrer of traffic daily since I started this group! By the way, I didn’t know you were in medical school. Congratulations!
      Janice

      • Deniza

I find Stumbleupon to be the most time-saving tool for creating traffic! Of course the engagement is not like with facebook or twitter, but it is a great way to get yourself out there and noticed! I have read all of your articles about stumbleupon and I guess I have finally understood how it works 🙂

Yeah, I am in my last year of medschool! I can’t wait to graduate, studying was actually fun but I feel ready to care for my own patients now! 🙂

    Hi Angie,
    1. I did not see you on my list of subscribers, so I took the liberty of adding your Email to the “subscribe” box. If you could please activate your subscription to my blog in your Email, I would appreciate it.
    2. I stumbled your article for you.
    Nice to meet you.

      Hi Corinne!
Welcome to my blog. Off to take the dog to the vet. I will stumble when I return!
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi again Corinne,
Your link has officially been stumbled. By the way, your blog sounds really funny: Super Mom Wannabee? Too funny.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Kristen,
How exciting that you can tell us first-hand that StumbleUpon does lead to major traffic hits. I did receive notification that you followed my blog. Thank you. I stumbled your link and added it to the group list, so if others want to stumble it as well, they can. Thank you for your interest and welcome.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Marie,
I am so glad I get to see you again here despite our subscribing snafus. Your comments are always so kind. Thank you for the warm compliments.
I stumbled your article for you. I also try to take the extra time to organize my likes into lists.
Thanks for visiting and your interest in our group.
      Janice

  10. Just Plain Marie

I’ve signed up for Reddit, but I’m scared to use it yet! I’ll go visit Micheal’s site.

    • Tobe Damit

Did it for ya! I need help to post this menu that appeares on the left with all the icons from various social medias people can use to share/add . Plz help me cuz people who are not on wordpress cannot see them!1 Even those I invited by mail!! WTF!! It wasn’t like that before!! I’m losing lots of likes and shares etc.. because of this…

      TY!

      • Janice Wald

        Hi Tobe,
        1. I understand your question now. The reason I have the social share buttons come out of the let side of the screen is that I use a widget called Sharaholic. Only self-hosted bloggers can install the widget. I just came from your site but I couldn’t tell if you are self hosted. I am assuming you are since I don’t see WordPress.com in your blog URL. Does that answer your question about the social share buttons?
        2. Thank you so much for stumbling my link. StumbleUpon has been my leading source of traffic since this group began.
        3. I don’t recall if I mentioned–I stumbled your Andy Warhol link for you
http://tobedamit.com/2015/10/25/william-s-burroughs-vs-andy-warhol/ and I put it on our link list so others can do the same.

      • Janice Wald

        Hi,
I just checked out your site again, and you were right. Your social sharing buttons are gone. I sent you instructions how to put them back. Settings -Sharing
        Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi,
When you make your account, come back and tell me, and leave a link you want me to stumble, and I will stumble it for you and add your link to our list.
      Janince

    • Janice Wald

      Hi,
I added your link for you and put it on the group article list for others to stumble too.
I apologize. I forgot you do not need to have a StumbleUpon account to get traffic from there.
      Janice

  11. Tobe Damit

Just a little recap to see if I got things right.. I can add anyone who wants to be on Stumble Upon by giving them the thumb up BUT I can’t add myself so I add others and others will add me. So far so good?. If they already have been added I won’t need to fill up the thing that starts by asking if its ok for work but It’s still important to give them the thumb up because we need more than just one click to be put on the Stumble Upon List that people see… So I’m going to help you lots but I just wanna make sure I’m going to get a few clicks on certain links: I realised I must carefully choose them because putting on a lot means that I will probably will get only one person adding me up so I chose 2 for now and later I could put 2 more. Maybe it’s better that way. I think people should be aware how little time it takes when you have a stumble upon account to give the thumb up to an article that’s already been added… I’m saying this because I want to know at the same time if I got this right and understand everything well. TY for all this work and this very good idea!! I’m willing to help out a lot!! I just hope I will be more than just added once!! So here are the 2 most important links to me:

The name of my website is Loud Alien Noize

    http://tobedamit.com/2014/12/02/the-dark-angels-of-altamont/

    http://tobedamit.com/2015/10/25/william-s-burroughs-vs-andy-warhol/

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Tobe,
I wanted to write right away when I saw your comments coming in to thank you so much for your offer of help and your trying to give this group a little guidance. It didn’t occur to me that people’s links might already be on StumbleUpon, but we should still add them to lists.
Am I understanding you correctly, is that what you are saying?
I am off to promote the post I published today. Later in the day I will stumble some links and add your Andy Warhol article to StumbleUpon for you.
Thanks again for your support and help and direction.
      Janice

  12. Janice Wald

    Hi Tobe,
I am here now. I will list your questions one at a time and reply to ensure I understand them.
    1. I can add anyone who wants to be on Stumble Upon by giving them the thumb up
A: Yes. Clicking the thumb up is the same as liking them. If their link is already on StumbleUpon, and you click thumb up, it is the same as stumbling or liking them. However, how would you know if they are already there? We need to add the URL’s since we are assuming they are not on SU but want to be.
    2. You could add yourself but you’d be hurting your chances of traffic. I used to add myself then stumble 30 other articles to make up for it. That is the ratio if you add your own articles. Better let us do it.
    3. If they already have been added I won’t need to fill up the thing that starts by asking if its ok for work but It’s still important to give them the thumb up because we need more than just one click to be put on the Stumble Upon List that people see…
A: Yes, but again, how would you know if they are already there?
    4. Each time I go in I will add the new links and then go back up to the top of the list and start over with Link #2 from the comments, etc. Other people are helping as well.
    5. After getting your question about the social share buttons, I went back in and modified the instructions. I added that they need to share the page on social media so we get more people.
I liked your idea you had when you wrote Marie. I think we should write the person directly, tell them we stumbled their link, and hope they return the favor.
Thanks again for your interest, your support, and all your help.
    Janice

  13. Kristin 2z

    http://mini2z.com/2015/10/23/live-joyfully/

The article (on my blog) really resonates what I’m trying to do – live joyfully as best as possible in my new normal. I’d love to have this stumbled upon.

I’ll admit Stumble Upon and Reddit are two areas I am lacking. I have accounts in both.
Thank you for all that you do for helping other bloggers succeed as well!

    Kristin / mini2z

      • Kristin 2z

        Thank you Janice
Better in some ways and some are yuck…..
Thank you for adding me to the group.
I played around stumble upon and need to add it to my blog so I can share my posts.
        Kristin

  14. Trudy

    Hi Janice,
I have fallen behind on reading your posts and I wanted to say that this is a great idea to make a StumbleUpon group. I had already stumbled your article but the exponential stumbles are a massive idea. I didn’t get your last message on StumbleUpon btw. Great job! Please stumble my latest, thank you.
    http://www.rendezvousennewyork.com/coffee-date-trudy-2/

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Trudy,
I am glad you like my idea about a StumbleUpon group. You have been stumbled, my friend. I also added your link to the group list.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Denise,
I appreciate being appreciated; no worries there! I stumbled your link and added it to the group list. I also added your comment about the 2000 views to my new Testimonial section on this page. Thank you! Others are also reporting great results from this. I am experiencing great results too. I am so excited about our group’s dynamic and the results.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Kellie,
Due to time constraints, I was only able to stumble your first link for you. I also added it to the group link list. I will stumble the other when I go back around again. I do one at a time to get to everyone, but others stumble straight from these comments. Welcome to the group!
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Jem,
      1. I stumbled your article for you.
      2. I added your link to the group list.
      3. Add as many as you want. I stumble one at a time, so I can get to everybody, but others stumble more than one at a time and get the links from the comments section if they aren’t on the group list.
      It’s all working great!
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Christine,
I stumbled your link for you and added it to the group list. I also read your post and commented on your blog.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

No problem. I will stumble whatever you want me to. Blogging for tomorrow. I will go back to stumbling later.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Christine,
StumbleUpon is a content curation site. We are adding your content for other people to read.

      • Christine

Thanks, Janice. I got that much. But I literally know nothing else about it. I’ll check it out thought and try to learn.

  15. Peggy

This is a great service you are providing and it’s great that we can reciprocate by stumbling articles by others. Michael kindly stumbled one of my posts as an example is his article and I got 16 hits from that.

This is the post I’d like to have you stumble
    http://leggypeggy.com/2015/10/22/musee-dorsay-one-of-frances-top-museums/

Just curious. I have two blogs and is it okay to have an item from each stumbled? If so, I’ll submit another link.

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Peggy,
I am so glad you decided to participate in our group. Leave as many links as you’d like. I do one at a time, but others stumble many from the comments at one time. 11:30 on a school night. I will do more tomorrow when I get home.
      Janice

      • Peggy

        Thanks for the welcome.

I’m still trying to figure out both StumbleUpon and Reddit. I think I posted links to both for you and Michael, but am not sure how or if it worked. For example, I clicked on ‘Add a page’ on StumbleUpon and it seemed to add a page to ‘my likes’. Is that what is supposed to happen?

I’m really happy to support you and other bloggers, but want to do it right! 🙂 Advice is most welcome.

And here’s a link to a post on my cooking blog.
        https://cookingonpage32.wordpress.com/2015/02/26/double-rich-chocolate-cookies/

        • Janice Wald

Yes, that is what is supposed to happen. Then, you can add it to a list if you want.

          • Peggy

            Thanks.

    • Janice Wald

      HI Peggy,
I stumbled your link for you and added it to the group list.
      Janice

        • Janice Wald

Yes, please. Let us know about all your traffic from StumbleUpon when you get it.
          Janice

          • Peggy

Thought you’d be interested to know that since you stumbled my link, I’ve had only 1 visit referred by StumbleUpon, but 214 referred by search engines.

          • Janice Wald

214!!! I heard when StumbleUpon traffic goes up, search engine traffic goes up as well! I am definitely interested to know! Thank you for telling us!
            Janice

    • Janice Wald

Nice to meet you today SJ! Thank you for following my blog! I stumbled your link for you and added it to the group list.
Welcome to my blog and our StumbleUpon group.
      Janice

      • SJ

Thank you very much! This opportunity is wonderful. Might I ask how many links we are allowed to submit?

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Joan,
      1. Welcome to my blog! Thanks for the follow!
      2. I stumbled your link for you and added it to our group list.
Welcome to my blog and our StumbleUpon group.
      Janice

      • Joan

Thank you Janice! I think I’m getting the hang of it and have been Stumbling many of the group posts, as well as other interests. I appreciate the opportunity to learn something new and get more exposure for my blog (and everyone else’s too, btw) 🙂

        • Janice Wald

          Hi Joan,
I just wrote you on my Follow to Follow Directory to tell you what a pleasure it has been to have you as part of my community. Thank you so much for the help stumbling links.

      Hi Marc,
The StumbleUpon group is a perk for my subscribers. I took the liberty of adding your Email, which came in with your comment to the “subscribe” box. Please activate your subscription, and I will be happy to stumble your link and add it to the StumbleUpon group link list.
      Janice

  16. Steve

Found you via Dream Big Dream Often. I love the way people like you want to help everyone with their blog exposure. I work as a Trainer so i am a natural helper too and am the biggest believer of sharing is caring. I don’t understand people who want to hold all their knowledge to themselves – what’s the point. Anyway, I have two blogs…a personal one and a music one. My personal blog is two years old and ticking along fairly nice. My music one is newer and I’d like to get that a little bit more exposure if you can help that’d be awesome! Here’s a recent post you could use? http://talkaboutpopmusic.net/2015/10/23/adele-says-her-new-album-is-a-make-up-record-a-cosmetics-mix-tape/

    • Janice Wald

      HI Steve,
Thank you so much for your kind words and coming over from Danny’s site. I would love to add your links; however, I was hoping the StumbleUpon group would be a perk for my blog followers, my way of saying thank you to them. I took the liberty of adding your link to the “subscribe” box. Please activate your subscription, and I would be happy to add your links to our directory.

      Hi Mary,
It is great to see you here! Thank you for your interest in my group. I stumbled your first link and added it to the group list. I do one at a time to make time for everyone. I will do more as time allows, but many others are stumbling links right from the comments. Thanks for participating.
      Janice

Hi, thank you for following my blog. It is 11 o’clock on a school night. Going to sleep. I will stumble your blog ASAP. Feel free to stumble other people’s links. I get a lot of traffic that way. Nice to meet you and thank you again.

What a great idea Janice happy to stumble anyone if it helps us all.

  18. Janelle

I am noticing a small increase in views already and I have been so busy this week with Transition Classes for leaving the Military. Thank you so much for your help. I was thinking since I do not have a lot of time to write this week I would request a few more blogs to be stumbled.

      Dear Jessa,
Thank you so much for your interest in my StumbleUpon group. The effectiveness of the group is exciting to see. One of the members even wrote a blog post about it! However, I was hoping the group would be a perk for my blog followers. I took the liberty of putting your Email into the “subscribe” box. If you could take just a moment, go into your Email, and activate your subscription, I would be happy to stumble your links for you and add them to the group list. Thank you.

      Hi Lakshmi,
As explained, the SU group was to be a perk for my blog subscribers. When I tried to help you subscribe to my blog, I got this message:
The email address has opted out of subscription emails.
So, I added you to my MailChimp Email list.
      Janice

  20. Kathleen

Janice, I have a couple of very dumb questions.
I know how to add a page from the SU link on someones post.
I know how to go to SU and add their page.

If I click stumble after I add their page – it does not stumble their page but another page.
I can stumble my likes at random.
How do I like a page when I am on it in SU

    Kathleen

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Kathleen,
I am getting traffic from your site today; exciting.
There are two ways to like a page when you are on SU:
      1. If you copy a link, click add a page, then paste a link, it will go to your likes.
      2. If a page is already on SU, and you click the thumb up, it will go to your likes; hope that help.
      Janice

  21. samc95xc

    Hey Janice,
I read your instructions about the stumble upon tricks.
However I’m not great in these things, as of now the very new to me.
So it would be great if you can help me understand it again.
And These are some of my top posts which I would like you to add in your group.

Hi Sam, no problem. I will stumble more when time allows. Both my husband and father are having birthday parties this weekend, so very busy. Many people are experiencing mass traffic stumbling each other’s articles. They will stumble in addition to me. Thanks for leaving your links.
      Janice

      • samc95xc

        Sure Sure take your time!
        Enjoy the Party!!
        Lets see how it goes!
        Thanks again!

      Hi Sam,
This Sunday I will publish a post about StumbleUpon. I am getting asked many questions including yours. I will publish the answer to your question and others then.
I stumbled your article about the magician and added it to the group list.

Thank you for your interest in our StumbleUpon group. We are seeing great results over here. However, I was hoping it would be my way of saying thank you to my blog subscribers. I took the liberty of adding your Email, which came in with your comment, to the subscribe box. If you could take just a moment to activate the subscription link in your Email, I could stumble your article for you and add you to the group list. Thanks!

          Hi Bev,
I got the notice. Thank you! I am off to my step-father’s birthday party for the day. I will stumble later and add you then. Others, however, go into the comments and stumble straight from there. Welcome!
          Janice

      Hi Bev,
Thank you for following my blog! I stumbled your article and added it to the group list.

      Hi Chhiti,
Please go into your gmail and activate the link confirming you want to subscribe to my blog. I STILL have not gotten notification you subscribed! Thank you so much for trying!
      Janice

      Hi Chhiti,
I stumbled your link and added it to the group’s list. Please go into your Email to see if you can find the activation link to your subscription. Thanks,

      Hi Franchua,
The StumbleUpon group was to be a perk for my blog subscribers. Since you opted out of Email notifications, I added you to my MailChimp weekly Email list. You will only get my links once a week.
I will stumble your article when I return home this evening. Off to school. I am a teacher.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Franchua,
Welcome to my group and my blog! I have stumbled your link for you and added it to the group list. You indicated you want to see if it really does bring traffic. You get traffic from stumbling links as well as from people stumbling your links. You might want to consider stumbling the links from the list. That’s why I put the list on the group page.
      Janice

        HI Liesel,
I hope you are having a nice Veteran’s Day. I stumbled your link and added it to the group list. Great to see you.

      Hi Alexandra,
Thank you so very much for helping stumble the links. How is your traffic as a result from StumbleUpon? Your article sounds like it’s an interesting holiday gift. I stumbled it and added it to the group list. Thank you again so much for helping. Remember to bring me any testimonials reporting effectiveness of our group. Thanks,
      Janice

      • Alexandra

Thanks Janice! Right now I’ve only been getting 1 or 2 hits a day from Stumbleupon :-/ Not sure if I’m doing something wrong on my end. Hoping it goes up in the future!

        • Janice Wald

          Hi Alexandra,
This Sunday I will be writing a post answering this question and other questions about StumbleUpon.
Unlike others who are reporting peaks and valleys, I am getting stable traffic from StumbleUpon like you are, which pleases me since I don’t want the traffic to stop. I’ve found when it stops, it often takes two weeks to restart.
I believe the outcome relates to several factors.
          1. The day of the week (right now it’s midweek. People go online on the weekend mostly.)
          2. Our blog niche. I write about blogging. Writing articles don’t typically do as well on SU.
          3. I find the more I stumble, the better my own links do. I believe you’ve shared that you’ve stumbled many articles My article Sunday will explain which blog niches don’t fare as well. See if you can notice a change per day of the week.
          4. Since, as I said, people have reported peaks and valleys, if you are in a valley, I predict a peak is coming.
          Janice

      Hi Trudy,
Thank you so very much for stumbling my Quora article.
I stumbled your link and added it to the group list. This is great! Who would have thought last summer that come fall we’d be in a StumbleUpon group?
      Janice

      Hi Roxanne,
StumbleUpon is easy. Just click “Add a Page when you get there and paste a link. It is my pleasure to help. I stumbled your link and added it to the group list.

    • Janice Wald

      Hi,
Thank you so much for your interest in my StumbleUpon group. I was hoping it would be a perk for my blog subscribers, and you are coming in as “Anonymous.” Therefore, I can’t tell if you are a blog subscriber!
      Janice

      Hi Leisel,
So cool: A world of warcraft chili–so creative! I stumbled your link for you and added it to the group list.

  22. Anna Palmer

I started by “adding” michael’s page but worry that it will only go to my 8 stumble upon followers. I think there might be a submit link that has broader reach. Do you know about this?

    • Janice Wald

Will go to everyone on StumbleUpon. No worries. Thank you for stumbling other people’s links!
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Scarlett,
I took the liberty of trying to put your Email into the “Subscribe” box on the home page. This is the message I got:
Success! An email was just sent to confirm your subscription. Please find the email now and click activate to start subscribing
Wouldn’t this imply that the Email with the activation link would be at the top of your Emails?
You could also try going to WordPress.com, Manage Subscriptions. You will be able to activate subscriptions there too.
In the meantime, I will stumble your link. I will write back again when I do.
Thank you for trying so hard. I am sorry you are having struggles.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi again,
      1. I stumbled your link.
      2. I added it to the group list.
      3. You asked, “Do you have any idea how I can get a new link?” Do you mean to subscribe? You could use a different Email. However, when I put in your Email, I got a “Success” notice, so see if it is your Email.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      HI Denise,
Great to see you on this fine Saturday. Thank you for coming. I stumbled your link and added it to the group list.

  23. Joan

Hi Janice, I’ve changed the name of my website (although the url remains the same), and my blog has apparently disappeared from the Reader. I’m hoping it will come back but in the meantime, if you could list and stumble my latest post, I would greatly appreciate it! I’ve been keeping up with SU and find that the increase in views is very dependent on the group staying active in stumbling. Thanks for all your help. Btw, I reblogged your Free Stock Photo guide post. Here’s my follow up to that post, showing a resource that I found through WordPress U.

    http://joankerrigan.com/a-goldmine-of-free-photos/

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Joan,
Thank you for telling me about the reblog. I don’t know why I didn’t see the notification. I would have gone to your site sooner to thank you. I just came from there.
How awful you disappeared from the Reader. How did you find out?
I just added your new link to SU and the group list on my site.
It’s great you empower your readers with follow up information.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Joan,
In response to your comment: I’ve been keeping up with SU and find that the increase in views is very dependent on the group staying active in stumbling.
I agree with you. I will be analyzing the effectiveness of our group in my SU post the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.
I am getting consistent traffic from SU. Yesterday, it comprised more than half my blog traffic (Yay!), but I am the one stumbling the articles.
I agree with you. If others stumbled the articles, I believe they would get consistent traffic too.
You get traffic both from stumbling as well as being stumbled.
      Janice

    • Suzanne

p.s. I’ve just looked at StumbleUpon for the first time since joining it, and realised I still don’t know how to use it, or create a new page to share others links. I will have to look into it when I have more time.

      Regards
      Suzanne

      • Janice Wald

        Hi Suzanne,
I will be answering questions I am receiving about StumbleUpon the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.
I will try to address your then for others who may have those questions. I’ve also written articles about but I am not sure if I addressed those basics.
In the meantime, here is how you add a page.
Just click “Add a Page” when you get there and paste a link. If you can’t find “Add a Page”, click “My Likes. and then you should see it.
That’s all there is to it. If you feel comfortable, we would love help stumbling the links on this StumbleUpon group list. You will get traffic both from stumbling as well as being stumbled.
        Janice

    • Janice Wald

My pleasure. I stumbled your link for you. Welcome to my blog and to our Follow to Follow Directory.
      Janice

  24. vicki

I do not yet have a stumbleupon account, but I thought I would give this a try anyways. I will work on that part later today. Thanks Janice for the great advice- I am enjoying your blog, as so many others are!

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Vicki,
Thank you for your interest in my StumbleUpon group and the wonderful compliments about my blog. I hope you understand, I had intended the StumbleUpon group would be a perk for my blog subscribers. I took the liberty of adding your Email to the “subscribe” box. If you could take a moment to activate your subscription, I would be happy to add your link “Starting Out With a Thankful Heart” to the group list and stumble it for you.
      Janice

      • Janice Wald

I got the notice Vicki. Thank you for following my blog. 11:00 on a school night, and I am finishing my post for tomorrow. I will stumble your link tomorrow after work.

      Hi Vicki,
I stumbled your link for you, and I added it to the group list.

      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi WPFinity,
      1. Thank you so much for following my blog.
      2. I added your link to StumbleUpon. Don’t hesitate to come to our group page and stumble some of the links on the list. You get traffic by being stumbled as well as stumbling.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Joan,
      1. Yes, I am absolutely still accepting links.
      2. You would not believe how much traffic I am getting from StumbleUpon today.
You would not be-lieve-it. Can I brag? The only one I have told so far is my husband.
450 + 140 (the corp. referrer from SU) + drumroll… 590 hits from StumbleUpon today.
I am sooo excited! Today is my best day for page views ever as a result. I am over-the-moon excited.
I stumbled your link for you and added it to the group list. Did you stumble WPInfinity’s link? That was kind. Thank you for the help and letting me brag today.
      Janice

      • Joan

Janice, Congratulations! That’s awesome to hear! I’m so glad your traffic is up; you’re working really hard to help a lot of bloggers and deserve the views! I did Stumble wpInfinity’s link when I saw it in the comments. Thanks for adding my latest link. I appreciate the help. I’m finding the traffic from SU to be directly related to how much time I spend there myself, so I’m trying to do a little there each day, making sure to give a thumbs up for articles from our group if I can. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! 🙂
        –Joan

        • Janice Wald

          Hi Joan,
Thanks so much for being happy for me. I feel torn between looking like I’m bragging and sharing my joy with someone ewho understands. I know you understand the value of StumbleUpon traffic, so I thought to tell you. Thanks for not judging me badly.
          Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Margaretha,
I stumbled your article for you, and I added it to the group list. Great to see you here today.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Steve,
Thank you so much for your interest. Thank you for your compliment on my idea. StumbleUpon really does produce massive blog traffic. It has become my #1 referrer. However, I was hoping to keep the group as a perk for my blog subscribers, and I couldn’t find you on any of my lists. I took the liberty of adding your Email which came in with your comment to the subscribe box. If you could take just a moment to activate your subscription, I’d be happy to stumble your link for you. Thanks!
      Janice

  25. Shel Harrington

Thanks for putting this together, Janice – I’m so excited to give this another try! Would you please Stumble the following articles?

Now I’m off to check out articles from other group members!

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Shel,
Great to see you again. It’s been a long time. I trust your practice is treating you well. I don’t think we’ve “talked” since the month Elle introduced us.
I hope you understand I was hoping to keep the StumbleUpon group as a perk for my blog subscribers. You understand–my way of thanking them for following my blog.
I took the liberty of adding your Email to the “Subscribe” box. If you could take just a moment to activate your link, I would be happy to stumble for you and add your links to the group list. Thank you for your interest.
      Janice

      • Anonymous

I’m confused, Janice – and embarrassed – because I DID subscribe to your blog the first time we interacted – right after Elle “introduced” us. And I get regular posts. Do you have more than one blog? Of COURSE I realize the group is for your subscribers – I really thought I WAS one! I don’t get it, but I’m glad I’m official again. Thanks for inputting my address – I have confirmed and hope it registers!

Delighted to connect with you in our different venues. I always learn something from your posts!

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Shel,
I usually do one link at a time although other members stumble straight from the comments section.
I stumbled your first link for you and added it it to the group directory.
Thank you for the kind words about my blog. I am the one who should be embarrassed, but it all worked out!
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Suzanne,
Thank you so much! If you subscribe to my blog, I’d be happy to stumble for you, and then you can try it out. It really does produce higher blog traffic.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Suzanne,
I visited your blog, but couldn’t figure out where to comment.
I know Linda Beth and other there. Do you know Chris, the Story Reading Ape? I think we may have originally met on his site.

      Hi Benjamin,
      1. Thank you for following my blog.
      2. I stumbled your link for you and added it to the group list. I write about how Twitter helps bloggers too. I can’t wait to read your article.

      Thanks again.

      Hi WordStoryaDay,
Thanks for your interest in my StumbleUpon Group. I was hoping to keep the group a perk for my blog subscribers. You understand, my way of thanking them for subscribing to my blog.
If you could take just a moment to subscribe to my blog, I’d be happy to stumble your links for you and add them to the group list for others to stumble as well.
      Janice

      • Janice Wald

        Hi,
I just want you to know, I got the notice. Thank you for subscribing! But, I have to go to work now and I’m out tonight. I’ll stumble more late tonight or tomorrow. Thanks again and welcome!
        Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Marie,
I stumbled your article and added it to the group list. I shared it on Pinterest. Amazing amount of Pinterest social shares. It really was an amazing pin.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Nikki!
Thank you so much for your interest in my StumbleUpon group. StumbleUpon definitely has the potential to produce mass traffic to your blog. I have already blogged about it showing screen shots with proof, and I have another blog about the power of StumbleUpon with screenshots coming out this Sunday.
I’d be happy to stumble your links for you and add them to the group list, so others can stumble them as well.
However, I was hoping to keep the group as a perk for my blog followers, you know, my way of saying thank you to them for subscribing to my blog. I even tried to take the liberty of adding your Email to the “subscribe” box but I got a message that said you opted out of Email subscriptions. The MailChimp optin box would work as well, which comes out as you go down 1/4 of the way down the screen.
Thank you for your understanding. Let’s make this work.
      Janice

      • Nikki Frank-Hamilton

Janice, I’m so sorry, I signed up before I added my comment, I totally get it, this is quite a perk! Brilliant! And I’d love to get your updates, thanks!!!

        • Nikki Frank-Hamilton

BTW, and just for a little extra credit, lol, I already stumbled 20 of the links! Whoot!!!

          • Janice Wald

Wow! Thank you! That is the way to blog traffic from SU You get out of it what you put in. Did you see the headline I sent you? I got 1,406 hits, 1,000 from SU in just one day on November 23.
You might be able to fix the subscription problem at WordPress.com under Manage Subscriptions.
            J

          • Janice Wald

I got notice from MailChimp, Nikki, yeah! Thank you!

        • Janice Wald

My pleasure! I love to help. Thank you for your compliments on my idea. I can’t wait for you to read Sunday’s post.
Check out this one in the meantime about what StumbleUpon can do for bloggers:
          https://mostlyblogging.com/make-1406-people-look-site-1-day/
However, I still haven’t received a notification that you subscribed.
Did you get an activation link in your Email?
So sorry about all this. Thank you for your understanding.
          Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi!
Thank you for the interest in my StumbleUpon group. It works. I have already written one post with screen shots showing proof, and I have another one coming out on my blog this Sunday.
Unfortunately, I did not get notice that you subscribed. I took the liberty of adding your Email to the “subscribe” box. If you could take just a moment to activate the link in your Email, I’d be happy to stumble your link and add you to the group list, so other can stumble your links as well.
Thanks again for the interest and the understanding. Thank you in advance for activating your subscription link.

      Hi Dermot,
Welcome back! Self-hosting does take a lot of time which is why I did it over the summer when I was home from school.
Your blog and your name sound familiar to me; I know we’ve communicated before, yet I couldn’t find you on my MailChimp list, my WordPress.com list or the WordPress Email list. The StumbleUpon group is a perk for my blog subscribers. Are you subscribed?
I tried to add your Email to the “subscribe” box, but it said you’ve opted out of Emails.
Sorry for my confusion. Please help me remember. Thanks,

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Demot,
Once again, please accept my apologies. I stumbled your link for you and added it to the group list.

It was 45 pieces of advice from a 90 year old man.
If anyone finds it, can they let me know?
      Thanks,

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Sherrie,
I know extremely little about About.me. I keep getting and ignoring notifications from them.
Would you be interesting in writing a guest post for my site about how to get blog traffic from About.me? I bet my readers would be interested. I know I am.

      Hi Chantal,
Thank you for the compliment on my StumbleUpon group.
You and I are like-minded bloggers. I enjoyed your Pinterest article, and your other headlines sound right up my alley.
I subscribed to your blog and am looking forward to seeing my perk–the Media Kit.
The perk I give my subscribers is the StumbleUpon group. I also have a group Pinterest board you might be interested in pinning to, which is another perk for my subscribers.
I took the liberty of adding your Email to the “subscribe” box. If you could take just a moment and subscribe to my blog, I’d be happy to add you to the SU group and invite you to the Pinterest board. I did check, but I couldn’t find you on the Email subscriber list or the WordPress subscriber list.

      Hi Mike,
I would be happy to stumble your link for you. However, it is a free service I offer my blog subscribers as my way of thanking them for subscribing to my blog.
I took the liberty of adding your Email to the subscribe box. If you could take just a moment to activate the link in your Email, I’d be more than happy to stumble your links for you and add you to the group so others will stumble your links too. Janice

      • Janice Wald

        HI Mike,
I added your link to the group list and stumbled it for you.
I am sorry for my confusion this week.

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Beth,
Great to see you! I would still love for you to place your own ad on my site.
I stumbled your link and added it to the group directory. In answer to your question, I am frustrated. I don’t how how to get rid of those graphics that are coming in with the links. I think if someone clicks “featured graphic”, the graphic stays with the URL. That’s my list. I’d prefer a long list of URL’s, although seeing the graphic gets promotion for the post. Thanks for stopping by.
      Janice

      Hi Gina,
I stumbled your link for you and added it to the group list. It is my pleasure to help. Happy holidays to you too,

      Hi Saso,
I stumbled your link for you and added it to the group list.
I want you to see that my method works. Come to the group page http://wp.me/P6x6vQ-1Kz and stumble other people’s links. Between my stumbling your link, and your stumbling their links, you should see traffic on your stats page.

    Hi Janice!
I’m not totally sure how I mess this up!LOL!

But I actually left the link to the wrong post!LOL!

I mean, don’t get me wrong here! I’m truly
grateful for any and all free (and hopefully) targeted traffic
    I get!

It’s just I meant to leave another link for you to stumble.
So I’m back to try and correct my error!

This is the actual link I was suppose to have left.

    Hi Janice!

I’m super new to StumbleUpon but your tutorial has helped immensely. I’ve spent the last hour reading through this thread and stumbling. What fun! I found so many new great blogs to read. I have this one that I’m hoping you will stumble: http://onedizzybee.com/eff-u-metabolism-0

    • Janice Wald

      Hi One DizzyBee!
I stumbled your link for you and added it to the group list. Thank you so much for the help with the stumbling. That’s REALLY the way to get SU traffic, by being stumbled and by stumbling others.
      Janice

    Hi Janice,

Thanks so much for stopping by on our Blog and liking the cats and babies post! It’s a very important feature run by my charity friends to help families with cats. 🙂

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Marc,
I sent you the invitation to pin to our Pinterest group board. Let me know if you didn’t get it.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Marc,
It’s beautiful that you help animals and support charities. I sent you the invitation to pin to our Pinterest group board. Please let me know if you didn’t get it.
      Janice

      • Marc

        Hi Janice,

        Thank you! 🙂

And yes I got the invite. 😀 Are there any specific guidelines on pinning to it that I should keep in mind when adding my own pins?

        Thanks,

        Marc

        • Janice Wald

Well, until recently my only criteria was that people subscribe to my blog. Then, this week, I noticed people pinning the same pin multiple times next to each other. As many different pins as you want would be fine, but the same pin over and over makes the person look spammy. I hope that’s okay.
          Janice

          • Marc

That makes perfect sense! And can’t believe someone would spam the same pin over and over. :O

          • Janice Wald

            Hi,
I am glad that is reasonable. I consider her a friend, so I hate to say something, but I took her duplicate pin down each time.
            Janice

      • Marc

        Hey Janice,

Could you do me a favour and resend the invite to the email address I used this time?

Turns out that it looks like accepting didn’t work because my Pinterest account is running on my GMAIL account rather than my domain account. 😡

        • Janice Wald

Resent! Let me know if you still don’t get the Pinterest invite.
          Janice

          • Marc

            It worked this time! 😀

    • Janice Wald

HI One Dizzy Bee! Will stumble when I am home from the dentist.
Question: While you were stumbling, did you have a chance to stumble my links? I added mine to the list under “host link”, so you will know which are mine. I put two in recently, so they will be toward the bottom of the list.
Thanks again for all the help. Please let me know when you start to see traffic from SU.
      Janice

        • Janice Wald

Thank you. Please let me know if you get a chance to stumble my links.
          Thanks
          Janice

          • OneDizzyBee

I am excited about our connection.
      Thank you again for everything.

Thank you for the help stumbling the links. I would love to stumble your links for you. However, the SU Group is a perk for my blog subscribers. I can’t remember if you are following the blog, and I am at work, so I can’t check. If you aren’t, please take a moment of your time to subscribe.

      Hi Christina,
I sent you an Email. I wanted to make you knew it all worked out, so I am writing you here too.
“The Crossfire of Vanity” came in with your comment. Would you like me to stumble that one and add it to the list?
Just leave the URL to any post in the Comment Section on the StumbeUpon Group Page, https://mostlyblogging.com/stumbleupon-group/.
      Excited you are onboard!

      Hi Leanne!
Thank you for subscribing to my blog. Welcome to my blog and our StumbleUpon group. Excited to have you with us.

Glad it worked out today (still Tuesday in California).
      Janice

    • Shadat

And how many posts should I post to SU from the groups? I already posted near 10 posts..

      • Janice Wald

        Hi Shadat!
Thanks so much for the help with the stumbling. You indicated you subscribed to my blog, but I have not received notification. I took the liberty of adding your Email to the “Subscribe” box. • Janice Wald

            Hi Shadat,
Thank you again for stumbling the links today (still Wednesday in California.).
I stumbled your link and added it to the group list.
You asked how many you need to stumble to get traffic.
I don’t know. I guess the more the better.
I read if you stumble your own link, you would need to stumble 30 others to get traffic, so it’s definitely less than 30! I do about one a day, and I am happy to say SU is my leading referrer of traffic.
Thank you also for subscribing to my blog. How did you find my blog, may I ask?
            Janice

          • Shadat

Thanks for your reply…. This is great what you already did… I found this blog on Google…. I think the idea will work for me…. I always need your help and suggesstion to increase my blog’s traffics from SU…

          • Janice Wald

            Hi Shadat,
I thought I saw you comment the other day that you would like me to stumble one of your links. I can’t find the comment! Please resend if I am correct. Thanks.
            Janice

      Hi Jazz Feather,
I feel so fortunate to have found SU. January was my best month for page views in large part due to getting so much traffic from SU.
I blog tonight, so stumbling may wait till tomorrow, but it won’t be later than Tuesday evening Pacific time. Thank you for subscribing to my blog.

He only said to me that he was having some personal issues. Other than that, I am not up on the details. He was a rising force!

        • Melissa Ruddy

Not to barge in on your conversation but that is so sad to hear. I really liked his blog.

          • Janice Wald

            Hi Melissa,
It’s fun when people talk on a blog. Thank you for contributing. I like how Danny called him “a rising force”.

      HI Silly Mummy,
Thank you so much for your interest in my StumbleUpon group. I was hoping to keep it a perk for my blog subscribers, my way of thanking them for subscribing to my blog. If you could take just a moment to subscribe to my blog, I’d be happy to stumble your links. I tried to take the liberty of adding your Email to the “subscribe” box, but it said you opted out of Email subscriptions. I think this can be fixed by going to WordPress.com, under Manage. If you want me to add you to my MailChimp list, I can do that too. Just let me know. Thanks,
      Janice

      • Silly Mummy

Hi, I did subscribe to your blog before writing the comment, and I did the confirmation email, and I have had a confirmation email of my subscription & it is showing in my wordpress subscriptions, so I’m not really sure what to do to fix this! I can try doing it all again? Or send you the copy of my email confirmation? Thanks!

          • Silly Mummy

            Thank you so much! 🙂

          • Janice Wald

My pleasure. Let me know when you see traffic.

          HI SillyMummy,
I am so sorry about earlier. You are so on my list! Thank you for subscribing. I did stumble your link, and I added it to the group list. Welcome to my blog! Enjoy the traffic!

    Janice,
I have had a Stumble Upon for years but have never really used it. I think this is a great way to get more traffic, and will be happy to stumble others links. 🙂 How often can we submit something to be stumbled? I was thinking of submitting once a week, but don’t want to abuse the group. 🙂 Thanks,
    Laura

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Laura!
I stumbled your post and added it to the group list. Don’t worry about abusing the group. Submit as many posts as you like. I stay more organized if you put each one in a different comment instead of many in the same comment. Thanks for the concern.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Ellen!
Great to see you! Stumbled! I also added it to the group list. I checked out your post. Congratulations on an engaged community.

      • Ellen Hawley

Thanks. I confess, I’m having trouble finding my way through the new format. There’s never been a form I couldn’t fill out wrong, so I’m not sure this is important information about the format, just an apology if I’ve dumped my link in the wrong place.

        • Janice Wald

Sorry you are having trouble. Clicking autofill should put all your info from the memory into those boxes. The boxes you have to fill out to comment, yes? The good news is you are putting your comment in the right place.

          Hi Banish,
I am trying to add your video to StumbleUpon, but I am having trouble. When I click on the video, it plays. How can I get a URL to add it to StumbleUpon? I am sure when you put the URL in the comments section, it turns into the video. Is there anyway to remove the link, so I can get the URL to the video? That’s what i need to stumble it.
I tried looking you up on StumbleUpon. What is your name there? I am Janice Wald. Thanks. If you look me up, I could follow you back.
          Janice

          • banish angural

Actually you just need to right click and select copy video URL.
And if you don’t want to do then my stumbleupon name is bangural

          • Janice Wald

            Hi Banish,
I stumbled your video and added it to the group list. Thanks for the help figuring out the URL. I forgot to right click. Cool video! I also followed you on StumbleUpon.

      Hi Joe,
I will stumble as many links as you would like me to; it doesn’t just have to be one a week. For my organization, it helps if there is only one request per comment box, but you can make as many requests as you like.
I stumbled your link and added it to the group list.

          Hi Mohinder,
Thank you so much. It means a lot because of the reasons I Emailed you. I will look forwarding to getting the notification that you subscribed.

  38. Wendy

Hi, Janice! I first looked at this post weeks ago, but had not taken the time to “figure out” SU. However, when someone stumbled one of my posts around Valentine’s Day, I received almost 1,500 views from SU in less than 36 hours — no biggie for some, but huge for me! So I did what any blogger would do: immediately added the SU share button to my site, and now I am back here to join your group! 🙂 I am already a subscriber to your site and I am now following you on SU.

Just to make sure I understand how this works:
    1. I share a link here (perhaps 1 per week?).
    2. You stumble it and add it to your Stumble Upon Group List.
    3. We stumble articles either from here or from your list.
    Do I have it right?

Here is my first link, and thank you so much! http://www.theartofwhynot.com/made-to-last-45-ways-to-nurture-the-mother-daughter-relationship-free-e-booklet-sneak-peak/

    • Joe Cosme

Hi Wendy, I just followed you on StumbleUpon and added your link to my to my StumbleUpon Group list. su.pr/1pnrdI I created a list to put all of the links I stumble from here. Have fun!

      🙂 Joe

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Wendy,
1500 page views in 36 hours from SU! That sure is a big deal! Congratulations!
As far as how many posts you can leave here, as many as you like. It doesn’t just have to be one per week. For my organization, it helps to have a different request in each comment box. Otherwise, request as many as you like. Thank you for your interest in our group.
I stumbled your article and added it to the group list.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

I’m on it! I wanted to let you know, you are the third person to imply you can only leave one link per week. I will stumble as many as you want. Just, please, one link per comment box. Thanks! Nice to see you Laura!
      Janice

      • Laura

Janice, thanks for clarifying. I just didn’t want to abuse the system so I thought I had seen a limit, but it must have been in another comment. I just Stumbled the last 10 additions. 🙂

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Laura,
I stumbled your link and added it to the group list.
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

Thank you Wendy. I haven’t figured out why some have graphics and snippets, so I’m glad you think the list is fine.
      Janice

      • Wendy

Oh my, just now seeing this — almost a month later! I’m not sure if I’ve stumbled this one before, but doing it again right now just to make sure! One can never be stumbled too many times! 🙂 Thanks again for this group, Janice! I’ve seen traffic from it.

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Michelle,
Thank you for the compliments on my idea for the StumbleUpon group. The StumbleUpon group is a perk for my blog subscribers. I tried to help by adding your Email, which came in with your comments, to the “Subscribe” box, but it says you opted out of Email subscriptions. You can fix this at WordPress.com, Manage Subscriptions.
When I get the notification, I’ll be happy to add you to the StumbleUpon group. Thanks,
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Kara,
Thank you for your compliments on my site and my information. I have stumbled your link and added it to the group list. When you start to see traffic, let me know. You said you were new to SU. You get traffic from SU quicker, if you stumble links as well as being stumbled. Feel free to come to the group page and stumble other people’s links. Thanks!
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Sofie,
I just saw this request. Sorry. I stumbled your link and added it to the group list. You said you feel like you could be dong things differently to get traffic on StumbleUpon.
It is most effective if you get stumbled (I stumbled your link) AND you stumble other people’s links. Come into the group and stumble links starting bottom up. Then, let me know if things improve. Thanks,
      Janice

    • Janice Wald

      Hello Allan,
Thank you for your interest in my StumbleUpon group. I can definitely help with getting traffic.
The instructions on the page explained that the StumbleUpon group is a perk for my blog subscribers. Before requesting a stumble, you should be a subscriber. I took the liberty of adding your Email to my blog’s MailChimp list. If that is a problem, just unsubscribe when you get an Email.
I stumbled your link and added it to the group list. Welcome to my group and my blog.
      Janice

      Hi Gary,
Thanks for writing me. Great to hear from you. I visited your site, as you know. Your readers love you! =) I stumbled your link and added it to the group list. My daughter and I did science projects when she was in school.

Hi, Janice! You absolutely CAN Stumble your own posts – I’m not sure anyone would even notice WHO did the Stumbling (though there is a page somewhere that shows all the stuff you’ve stumbled, I’m not sure anyone ever digs that deep). HOWEVER, the terms of service do say this:

“Can I use StumbleUpon to promote my web page?

“StumbleUpon was created to help people share and discover interesting content, so if you have a personal, non-commercial web page that you’d like to share with others, you are permitted to add it to StumbleUpon. There are limits in place regarding how many times you can add a page from a single domain – if you approach or reach that limit, you may be identified as spammer.

“If you have a commercial web page that promotes a specific product or service, you may only use StumbleUpon to drive traffic if you are using our Paid Discovery service.

“Please be advised that if your account is associated with unauthorized promotional activity, it may be suspended or terminated. Accounts that are sanctioned for spamming our service or promoted without permission are generally suspended indefinitely or removed from StumbleUpon.”

Clearly, promotion by others is always nicer than self-promotion.

It’s GREAT for bringing in new (potential) readers; BUT BE AWARE it also increases your bounce rate (unlike Reddit – Reddit’s awesome, but as you point out, NOT a good place to share your own links or they’ll eat you alive). My son loves reading Reddit, but thinks I’m stupid for even trying to join in a conversation there. 🙂 That said, I did two artist interviews that were shared within the art subreddits, and they did very, very well.

Other than direct visits (no referrer), Facebook referrals have the lowest bounce rate for me, followed by Google+. But these sites don’t bring in nearly as many unique visitors, either.

You may remember my post on adding the SU button to JetPack. (It was removed by them because SU doesn’t support https:) I have been playing with other sharing plug-ins, and like Add-to-Any. Not sure which you’re using, but I can be a little OCD about the button sizes matching! (I never quite got the custom button to line up in JetPack, so that was my main reason for replacing it; plus SU was included in ATA.)

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Holly,
When I was at Reflections (http://mycurrentnewsblog.com), I stumbled every post. Before WordPress.com removed the StumbleUpon share button, I did it because I could and thought it was part of self-promotion. I did not get any traffic (that I recall) from StumbleUpon. Once I started stumbling other people’s links last summer, and they started stumbling my links, my SU traffic took off and has been consistent.Since then, I have stumbled other people’s links, and they have stumbled my links.
My advice not to stumble your own links is based on those personal experiences, my observation of other people’s experiences, and the articles I read, recent articles. I thought it was common knowledge, so I don’t have citations handy. (I read a Neil Patel article about this on Friday.)
However, if you go on Facebook and type StumbleUpon in the search bar, all the groups that exist for the sheer purpose of stumbling each other’s links will come up. If you could stumble your own links and still get blog traffic, they wouldn’t need to exist.
The bottom line is to do what works for you. If you get sizeable blog traffic from SU and stumble your own links, how wonderful for you! Do what works!
      Thanks for writing.
      Janice

I stumbled your link and added it to the group list. I did receive the notification that you subscribed! Thank you!

      Hi Annette,
Thanks so much for the kind words about my blog. I stumbled your link for you and added it to the group list.
I am so pleased and excited that you want to stumble my link for me too!
Do you have a StumbleUpon account? If yes, all you have to do is click “Add a Page.” This article answers questions about StumbleUpon, so it may help clarify things:

      https://mostlyblogging.com/way-see-staggeringly-high-blog-traffic/

If possible, I’d love this link stumbled:
      https://mostlyblogging.com/10-colorful-ways-to-promote-your-blog/
It will ask you the interest: It is weblogs.
It will ask you if the post is safe if someone opens it and reads it at work. I am not sure. Whatever you think is fine.
      Thanks!
      Janice

      • Annette Daly

Thanks so much. So happy to be a part of your mostly blogging tribe. Will you send out a notice each week for us to post links we want stumbled?

        • Janice Wald

          Hi Annette,
I am so happy your are part of our community too! (Beyond happy!)
As far as the StumbleUpon group goes:
I’m not sure if you are suggesting I give people weekly reminders that we will stumble their links for them, or…
If you are assuming we will only stumble one link per week. Many people have assumed the latter, but I will accept as many as they want stumbled. It is easier for me if people put one stumble request per comment box.
I use to give reminders each time I sent a post to my MailChimp subscriber list, but then I stopped. People tend to tune out the same message after a while. I am thinking about resuming since I read your comment. Thanks for the inspiration!
          Janice

      Hi Chelsea,
How exciting to see you here! I don’t know if you remember, but I interviewed you last year for an expert interview I conducted.
I was so excited to read that you subscribed! Thank you! However, I never received a notification. Since you expressed interest, I took the liberty of adding your Email to my subscriber list. Then, I stumbled your article.
Welcome to our StumbleUpon group and my blog!
      Janice

      • Chelsea M.

Hi Janice, I definitely remember the interview – for Pinterest, right? Love it! So weird that the subscription notification didn’t go through, pretty sure I did it right! Glad you added me anyway 🙂 I’m off to stumble your pages now!

        • Janice Wald

          Chelsea,

I am a late bloomer on Stumble so I am curious to see it work. Also I find that often times on our business Blog The stumbles never show up in the social share counts juts the 1. Yet When you got o SU you can see how many have stumbled by clicking on te link itself. even there most lonks show just one share or “0” shares even when people have stumnled. Any ideas on how to solve this Janice?

One of the main reasons I dont use it much is I cant track the shares or Click Throughs…

That said. Our Niche travel blog does show the counts and page visits and i am not sure what triggers it nbut some posts gte over 1k views and others about 59 average…ot sure why again. So maybe I needsome tips on Stumble.

I would be most obliged if you would add this link to your stumble group Janice 🙂 http://www.pkjulesworld.com/11-epic-underrated-attractions-in-oahu-hawaii/ lets see how that performs. Currently has 59 stumbles!

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Julie,
I am having the same situation. On only one post of mine does the StumbleUpon button show counts, and it’s pretty high. I thought maybe it has to be over a certain number to show. Otherwise, I have no idea. If you find out, let me know.
I stumbled your link and added it to the group list. You said you want to see if this works. Honestly, it helps if you stumble as well as get stumbled.

Hmm…more techno WTF dinosaur newbie eh? Traffic though….key to promoting so….enter the newbie…one has a stumble upon app installed. It stares back, blank and vacant, although that might be a reflection on me staring blankly at it and some machine empathy reciprocating ?

I have this to test the goings on… But new turf again Janice….you keep doing this….just when I think OK..that’s not so hard …boom….new thing… Bit like Google negative…sorry plus…they stare…evil like… Right back…daring me to try something so it can laugh insanely… Oh yes…a link…or donI now call it a stumble? Unless it’s a blog where it’s a post, or Twitter where it’s a Twit…or….. Zone out…mind bomb…just drop the link…no stumble…bah..

Thanks Janice…but now I’m Stumble active there is this urge to figure out what’s going on, how do I link up with you and the group kind of, well,… eh?????

Now you know why I use a dinosaur profile pic 🙁

My Stumble name is GaryJefferies if that helps. I feel confident I could link up backwards if I was followed but finding other people from the group at present is like looking at a giant haystack looking for an iddy bitty needle. I think its a case of the more I use it the more it will unveil its secrets…I just need to find the starting line first !!

I nearly had a fight in a nightclub once whilst trying to locate the rest room….some chap just would not get out of the way….I noticed two bouncers laughing then realised the entire wall was made of mirrors….I have issues with myself I fear ?

        Hi Janice,

        Thanks you so much 🙂
I have question, where do i find the group list?

            Hi Janice,

            Thanks in advance 🙂
I stumbled link on the list, read many great blogs 🙂

I have other question, about the link that we provide. Do we only give one link to be stumble by others, or we can request for another post of us? Do it has limitations?

            Many thanks Janice,
            Haraka

          • Janice Wald

            Hi Haraka,
There are no limitations! I will stumble as many as you like! I only have one request. Please put a different link in each comment box. It helps me stay more organized that way.
