10 Amazing SEO, SEM, and Content Marketing Tips You Need to Know:

by Chris Albert

Generating more traffic on the website would increase your business revenue because more people will get to know about your business offerings and your potential market would increase substantially.

In order to increase the traffic on your website, you need to improve its rankings on search engines because people usually tend to open the links that are available on the top of the list. You can come up with a strategic plan which is content-oriented to optimize your website’s ranking.

There are many different ways to boost your site’s SEO and SEM:

  • Strategically Approach Keywords

You need to conduct a thorough research for the keywords that are trending because, without proper investigation, your search engine optimization is doomed to failure. Finding the suitable keywords would allow you to lay the grounds for your SEO campaign and you would have a better plan to start with the optimization.

It is important to specify the keywords according to your content because it will help people find your page more easily and conveniently. Try to avoid vague phrases and strategically embed your keyword in the article that you know will generate more traffic.

It is extremely difficult to find a top 10 spot for your website in the search engine results pages because the competition has increased and there are a lot of other websites who are fighting for the top spot for their business. The basis of your SEO campaign is formed by the keywords, so you should focus on that part and look for concrete keywords that would help improve the ranking of your site. In addition to this, consistently publish content on other platforms in order to get more conversion rates.

  • Strictly Implement the Originality Rule

You should publish content which is real and genuine and is not duplicated from other websites because copied content can seriously harm the reputation of your company. Come up with something new as your content should have an element of innovation because people are always attracted to something that they have not seen or read before. You can check the originality of your content by different plagiarism checking tools like Small SEO Tools or CopyScape.

  • Content Should Be Relevant

The content that you post on websites should be relevant to your business because quality content is by far the most important driver of your SEO ranking.

Content which is specifically generated for your niche and your potential market would definitely increase the traffic on your website and this improves the relevance of your content.

Think about how users would search for your products and services and design a keyword that would drive the maximum amount of traffic to your page. Moreover, you can use bold and italics for headings and subheadings in order to highlight the key elements of your content. Furthermore, you should update your content on regular basis in order to cope up with the changes in readers’ and consumers’ demands and interests.

  • Make Adjustments to Your Website’s Navigation

The interface and navigation of your website play a vital role in the determination of the important pages on your site.

You should link more pages to your website as it helps increase the ranking of the website.

Another major concern is the internal link flow of the website which should be structured properly in order to navigate the users easily around the website. In order to optimize your website, you can use various tools like Scream Frog or Site Liner. The pages on your website that have less content or have very fewer visits should contain a link that would take users to the page that matters the most.

  • Instead of Buying, Earn the Links

The temptation to buy the links that are available on other websites is strong because they have an incredible impact on the ranking of the website. However, buying and selling of links are strictly against the Webmaster Guidelines of Google.

Search engines nowadays are very good at pointing out suspicious activities like unnatural or manipulative links so if you buy the links, the ranking of your website can fall dramatically, making it appear on the bottom of the list. Therefore, instead of buying and selling the links, you should spend your money on developing and creating original content that can drive more traffic to your website as it would be organic and is likely to convert more readers and consumers.

  • Be Natural

You do not have to force a keyword into the content when you’re writing an article for the optimization of your website. When you wedge the keyword in a sentence, readers will know that it is unnatural and that you are trying to enhance your website for search engines. Search engines use advanced search and they can easily find out if the article is being used for optimization which can kill your credibility and your website’s ranking as well.

  • Use Tags

When you post a video or an image with the content by using visual media, always use tags and descriptive text as it allows search engines to find and locate your page which is considered to be the main objective of your SEO campaign.

  • Develop Mobile Friendly Website

Smartphones and cellphones are the most the used devices for internet and mobile-friendly websites are given increased preferences by users. You can also check if your website is mobile friendly or not by running some tests. In addition to this, you can create sitemaps which are necessary for Google to locate your website pages.

  • Increase the Speed of Your Website

Speed matters a lot. People generally do not like websites that are slow and unresponsive. In addition to this, if your website is slow, then Google might rank it low on the list, so even if your content is a relevant and gold standard, your website will not make it to the top of the list.

Therefore, you should optimize the speed of your website in order to improve its ranking. Moreover, speedy websites save time for the users and they are more likely to refer it to others which means that more traffic will be driven to your webpage.

  • Fix the Website Errors

You should run technical tests on your websites in order to find errors on your webpage. Tools like WooRank and SEMrush can help you in checking the technicalities of your webpage. These tools are well-known instruments for detecting and eliminating the errors from your website, making it fast and reliable.

These techniques can be really helpful for you to improve the ranking of your website, making it appear at the top of the list.

I’m actually doing a revamp on my blog and adjusting the nav bar is on my list. 🙂

    Hi Chris,
    Good points on SEO.
I specifically discourage buying of links. As you mentioned, this act is punishable.

What makes SEO difficult is when we try to compete with the big guns. They have what it requires to be on top. If we do proper keyword research and go in for the less competitive ones, we are sure to rank better.

    Thanks for the helpful post

    Hi Chris & Janice,

Your article is super-great. I like to improve my SEO by performing keyword research and create a list of keywords to use on my articles. I do this by brainstorming keywords my competitors are already ranking for on Google’s page 1. After get get a list of keywords, I filter those keywords and also create a list of LSI keywords – these are related keywords that also perform well on SERP.

This way, i m able to make a list of keywords the will help improve my SEO efforts.

    Thanks for sharing.

Mobile friendliness and speed is definitely something to look out for. Luckily, most WordPress themes I know of are doing a fine job. But it’s something to be aware of for older websites.

I recently did a full overhaul on website speed after I realized how poorly one of my sites loaded on mobile phones with slower connections. Definitely worth checking out.

    Thanks for the post,

Great to see you here! Thanks for coming over. I had very poor loading time. Then, I outsourced my tech needs. My helper sped up my site tremendously. I’ve been cognizant of not having too many plugins ever since. I know “traveling light” helps. Thanks for your comments.

    Hi Chris and Janice,

I can attest to all your fine points as these are the areas I’m covering one way or the other as I concentrate on traffic generation for my site. lately I have ran reports with SEMrush and my site saw big improvements as a result of implementing the suggestions.

I’m also finding that by having a better understanding of who I’m writing for, I am better able to come up with unique takes that others in my niche may not have thought about. This has resulted in more comments for my site.

I have also avoided stuffing my posts with keywords. I found that a better approach is to have the keywords in the first and last paragraph, and insert them naturally in the headlines.

    In short, this stuff works.
