Let’s be real over here, who does not like to have loads of money in their pockets?  The blogging industry has helped people make millions of dollars. Yes, you read it right, people have been making a fortune, just by blogging. Now, if you are just getting started, you need to get all the things just right. It can get tricky at times while choosing the direction for your blog.

Before you get started, be very sure about the goals and content for your blog. Do not be scared to take significant steps and make innovations in your work. Every successful blogger was a starter once, but the world does not have to know that. The key point is that your work should show your confidence and passion.

Here are some points which will help you a lot if you are just trying out blogging for the first time and even if you have already started and have no luck.

Choosing the platform

If you are trying out your luck for the first time, you might think of adopting free platforms. These platforms are of no good with very few features offered, and many blogs with a huge following are deleted without any reason. You might be thinking of starting your blog in Blogger, but when you realize that its features are limited, you will have to switch to WordPress. The most reliable free platform is “”. Choosing the right niche

Niche is the topic for your blog. This is the most fundamental move you are going to make. Give your thoughts some time. Examine your interests and then make the decision. For example, if you have an interest in fashion, then go for a fashion blog. Due to your passion for the topic, you will not feel like the writing is work. Also, you will be able to learn something new every day. Choose the topic where you think you can grow and make progress every passing day.

If you are confused about choosing between two are more topics, you can also go with multi-niche blogs. Single niche blogs are highly recommended and make their way up to the top faster than multi-niche blogs. It helps followers to be clear about whether they want to follow or not and if the blog has anything that interests them or not. Suppose you run a fashion and food blog, now the follower sees the food-related post and starts to follow you; what’s next is that they are going to be disappointed when they keep seeing unrelated posts. This kind of behavior is a turn-off and decreases the traffic. If you are a beginner, start by choosing a single niche. Give your followers a clear image. Once you have increased traffic, you can always include more niches.

Multi-niche has its benefits; you have loads of content to post. You can always bring variations by combining the two niches.

  1. Janice,
Did the research like you suggested in this post. Turns out I had my niche a little confused. Health Care is not researched on the web that much, but Disabilities is HUGE!

So my blog will now be about disabilities!
Thank you for leading me once again in the correct direction.

  4. Hey Muhammad!

Interesting topic you are talking about here.

I’d like to share what I’ve learned from my own blogging experiences.

When I first started blogging, I started with a free blog from Blogger. But, got a domain name very soon after.

One thing that I’ve learned over the years of building blogs online is that when you cheap out you don’t take your blogging very seriously. Spending more actually helps you get more done. As weird as that might sound, but this really works.

When you have more on the line (more money) invested in your blogging plan, you have this urgency inside of you to make things happen. This will allow you to push yourself to do all of the necessary work you need to put in, in order to start making money with your blog, And the simple science behind this is because subconsciously you know you have a lot to lose if you don’t succeed.

The more on the line you got, the more serious you are going to be about what you are doing. If you don’t have a lot invested, then it will be easy for you to tell yourself to quit. Because you barely got anything to lose, and you will tell yourself that as well.

My best advice for a new blogger is to not cheap out. Of course, there are ways to save a bit of money with hosting plans and tools, but don’t go cheap because you will not give it your all. At least most new bloggers don’t when they’re not fully invested.

Thank you for sharing this post!

    Best regards! 😀

    • Interesting perspective Freddy– you get out what you put in.
I agree you work harder if you have money invested. Parents believe if children pay at least part of college, they’ll work harder. The same principle applies.
I agree bloggers will work harder the more financially they have invested up to a point– they have to find the time to put in. I work outside the home and find that limiting me from doing all I can as a blogger.

  5. Hey Janice,

Research is an important part of starting a blog and it shouldn’t be ignored.

Few new bloggers just hop on to start blogging in a niche which looks lucrative but is difficult to rank and ultimately lose interest because they can’t make money.

Thanks for sharing this guide. Helpful as always.

Thanks for writing and the kind words about my articles.
I feel like I have challenges in the area you commented on. I am passionate about topics for which it is difficult to rank. Keyword research takes me a long time for that reason. When the organic traffic comes, I feel the time invested is worth it.

  9. Hi Muhammad,

I dig the advice to follow your interests when searching for niches. Or, for a single niche. If you feel passionate about exploring your niche the work is the reward. All else is extra, or a bonus, or icing on the cake, and this is the right energy through which you begin a successful blogging venture. Smart advice dude.

  12. Hi Mohammed& Janice,

I agree with the tips in this article, from the choosing your blogging platform, research, blogging niche, etc. Following this tips will take your blogging to the next height.

Who wouldn’t want to research a niche topic before investing time and energy into making it become a brand?

Who would not want the best blogging platform for his blogging business? The list goes on and on.

You have to pay the bill, so passion alone does not work well in this context. Why? Because you might have a passion for a particular niche only to find out that the niche is not profitable.

I advise trying to keep a balance with what you have a passion for and a profitable niche. I agree with Pospi who said “The type of Blogging Niche you choose determines the amount of money you make.”

Furthermore, I do not agree with the multiple niche thing at this stage. My advice is first establish your brand on a single niche. When you’re established, then you can expand your horizons.

Thanks for sharing Mohammed, and thank you Janice for publishing!

  13. tips in this article is very useful for all type blogger and it is very helpful for choosing a blogging platform, research, blogging niche, etc. Following this tips will take blogging to the next level.
