Productivity Improvement Plan

1. Dedicate a Room

While a corner of a room is better than nothing, dedicating an entire room to your blogging venture will be much better. This means you are far less likely to get disturbed, and you should be able to focus without distractions. This is especially important if you have kids or a partner who may want your attention.

If your home doesn’t have a spare room, it could be time to look for a mover and find a place that does. Your space can inspire you, but it can also bring you down. You can definitely create a blogging space in any quiet corner of your home, though, so this could just be a case of investing in noise-canceling headphones.

2. Natural Light

Natural light gives us more energy and puts us in a better mood. It tends to be so much better to work in than artificial light, so if you can control it, choose a space with a nice window that lets the light come in. If you can’t, invest in bulbs that will mimic this. The last thing you want is too much artificial light cluttering up your brain and giving you headaches.

Productivity is the combination of efficiency and effectiveness.

3. Include Flowers/Plants

Flowers and plants can be inspirational in themselves, but if nothing else, they look beautiful. They will perk up your space and purify the air. There are numerous benefits to introducing plants and flowers into your blogging space!

4. Put Up Things That Inspire You

The things that inspire you are going to be entirely different than the things that inspire another blogger. You want this space to be a place you can come up with a ton of ideas, so think about what you can include. Pictures of the good times you’ve had with family and friends? Your favorite works of art? Articles you loved? Get creative!

5. Have Space Where You Can Sit And Come Up With Ideas

If the room is big enough, create a comfortable space you can sit, flick through magazines, brainstorm, and come up with your own ideas. Have it away from your desk so you can just put pen to paper, rather than stare at a computer screen. Doodling and brainstorming, even reading other’s work can help you to become inspired

6. Sit Comfortably

When you do sit down to create your content and edit your pictures, you want a comfortable place to sit. Make sure your chair is ergonomically correct and won’t harm your back, and that your desk has plenty of storage space and sits at the right height. Invest good money into these things and you’ll be glad you did!

  1. Suchot - The Curious Frugal

Yes to this, especially natural light! I think natural light can be so undervalued in home and office and building design. We have started looking into schools for our daughter for next year and some are terrible for natural light – tiny windows, lots of big tube artificial lights instead. And there are others that have large windows with lots of natural light and it just makes you feel happier being in there.
