How to Make Money with Social Media to Grow Your Blog or Business

by Muhammad Shoaib

If you have not included social media for your business purpose, you are doing it all wrong. Marketing techniques have changed more than some people would like to admit. In the past decade, advertising has shifted from magazines, newspaper to television commercials and social media. If we look at this statistically, social media can uplift your blog or business to up to almost 100%. The point is that social media is a single platform, proving many benefits. You can advertise here; you can make sales here, people can look at the reviews and a lot more.

According to a common observation, people use social media for connecting with their friends and family. Over the years, it has been the center of entertainment, but now the perspective is changing. Even common people are using it for selling their daily household equipment and for establishing small businesses. Have a look at the most successful businesses like Apple, Samsung phones, and electronics, etc.; their whole selling technique now revolves around different social media sites.

If you are living in this age, where spreading your word has become this easy, you better take full advantage of that. Go through the points given below; these will help you a lot while looking for the ways to grow your business online.

  • Develop better interaction

No matter what you are doing, always try to play with human psychology. Make every move by giving a deep thought about your audiences’ needs and preferences. Your followers are going to increase only if they have a trust in you. Try to write text in a friendlier way rather than all technical and a formal way. If they want you to guide them, always be nice. Some people are new to these things, and they need a proper guideline. Make them feel that it is okay to ask questions and they are not bothering you. If they need supervision more than once, do it. Because after all, they are the ones who are going to keep your business going.

  • Give close attention to users’ opinions

Users are the heart of your business. Listen closely to what they are trying to tell you. If they ask you to change or improve something, give them a positive response and welcome all their criticism. If you react all offended, it is going to cast a drastic effect, and the audience is going to be reluctant next time to communicate with you. If you have been working in the advertising business, you must already know that criticism is a part of advertisement too. If you are being criticized, you are going to be the center of attention, people who do not already know about your website will show interest. Remember negativity spreads like a wildfire, and everyone will love to show aggressiveness while positivity is appreciated by some. This does not mean that you start your advertisement all based on negativity, it means to not lose your perspective if you face some criticism.

  • Right decisions

A successful business is a combination of all the right decisions at the right time. While advertising on social media sites, the weightiest decision is to choose the best platform for it. For the business establishment, Instagram has the highest ranking so far. Instagram allows you to offer multiple options at a time. You can certainly maintain your account. It has been seen that over the last two or three years, audiences have shifted from Facebook and Twitter to Instagram. You can gain followers on Instagram fast, by buying sponsored posts from Instagram. Nowadays, people with a huge following will also help you in enticing more followers by talking about your products on their pages. They might as well promote your page but you will have to pay them a certain amount of money for that.

  • Focus on the quality of your posts

Being active is a positive point, but do not spam your audience. If their dashboards are going to be filled with your content all the time, your followers are going to get annoyed real soon. From my own experience, it is better to know what a page is up to, but if someone is posting, again and again, I will lose all my interest before it is even developed. All the famous pages have gained followers on their social platforms by using these strategies.

Readers, please share, so other bloggers and entrepreneurs discover Muhammad’s tips for growing their blog or business in order to make money with social media sites.

    Hey Muhammad and Janice!

    Helpful tips!

Social media marketing has great potential for a lot of targeted traffic. It is also one of the best ways to interact and engage with your audience.

I love using facebook groups to engage with my audience. I also like using LinkedIn.

I agree with your tip on high quality content. If you want your audience to pay close attention to you then you must over deliver in the value you give them!

    Thanks for sharing!

    Cheers! 😀

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Freddy,
I also love Facebook groups. I only use LinkedIn sporadically. Speaking of social media, I tried to find you on Instagram but couldn’t. If you’re on, I hope you’ll look me up. I’m @janicewald over there. Thanks for your comments!

  6. Larry Holmes

    Hey Janice,

I definitely think I need to be doing more of the first part. Developing better interactions. I want to start having giveaways and fun with my readers. Thank you for emphasizing on this part. I noticed that many people write in a way that many people can’t understand instead of building intimacy with their followers. Job well done Janice.

      Hi Larry,
I’ve been a part of some giveaways, and they were pretty successful. Are you familiar with Virily? They have quizzes over there which are pretty fun. You might try having quizzes there. You can monetize when people take your quizzes and grow your readership back to your blog. Here’s a link with info if you want to see. If not, you might use their quizzes as an example of what to have on your blog:

  7. Hassaan Khan

    Hello Shoaib and Janice,

Thank you for this blog post. I liked the whole concept of this blog post, especially how it emphasizes on understanding the human psychology from the business standpoint. I agree that it’s imperative to understand the human needs and thought-process to build a fruitful relationship.

My favorite point was “develop better interaction” because it resonates with my approach to building a relationship with the audience as well as other bloggers. A few weeks back, there was a blog post on Joy Healey’s blog about blog commenting, and I shared with her that I try to deliver something valuable in my comments. There is no better engagement strategy than giving something upfront. She liked my point and came to my blog. Therefore, a communication started, and we ended up building a professional relationship.

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Hassaan,
I loved your comments. They are a true testimonial to the value of blog commenting.
Regarding “better interaction”: Of everything my guest author wrote, that seems to have resonated with readers the most. Thanks for writing us.
