I had an exciting week.
On Tuesday, I published my guest author’s post. She reflected on her blogging experience. I published it as part of a larger piece about reaction to a lackluster blog reception. I asked my readers if they had a choice between a lukewarm audience reaction and blogging about a popular subject that’s boring to them, which would they pick? Which would you?
I linked the article to the Anything Goes Linky Party, and my post came in the top two.
On Thursday I wrote a life-changing article. However, it wasn’t my life that changed.
Charles Rogers came up with the idea for an International Weekly Link Roundup, a geographical way for bloggers from around the world to get introduced to the blogging community. The weekly feature was Charles’s idea, but I published the post on my site.
In the spirit of introducing herself geographically for the sake of the post, Keesha Metcalf, who has gone under the pseudonym Iseland Gurl, exposed her true self–a blogger from Jamaica who has revealed her true origins. She never revealed her place of birth out of fear she’d be misjudged.
(If any of you would like to be featured in our International Weekly Roundup, please leave a link to a post you’d like featured, and your country of residence.)
What an October! First, Neil Patel wrote me and complimented my Thursday Weekly Roundup. Then, Kristi Hines complimented my blogging tools list. It is as if I am dreaming that blogging influencers think I am a VIB, a very important blogger.
On Saturday I found out that the same technology article about the 31 tools was included in a political publication, The Doug’s Views Daily.
Someone wrote me on Twitter from the SITS Sharefest Twitter party that my picture, two robots, made them smile.
On Saturday I held my eighth Meet and Greet. There are plenty of bloggers there waiting to meet you if you’d like this networking opportunity.
On Sunday, I wrote a post about how to lower your bounce rate. I offered 15 tips to keep readers at your sites longer.
Now let’s talk about you.
I was torn among six posts for the winners of Most Inspirational.
The first I chose was Why Losing Weight is So Damn Hard! And How You Can Make it Easy! Holly, the admin blogger, offers five tips for losing weight and a plausible explanation about why it’s so hard. With the holidays coming up (did someone say Halloween candy?), those tips are helpful.
Next, I chose Money-Saving Tips for College Students. The admin blogger offers 15 tips for students, but parents should be cognizant of them as well.
We had 353 posts last week, one more than the previous week. The one clicked on the most was Oatmeal Lemon Crumble Bars. It was the first winning post I’ve seen that was in Hebrew.
Congratulations to the winners.
Although it is not required, it is considered polite to follow your hostess!
That’s me! I’m Janice!
