Welcome to the Inspire Me Monday Linky Party for the week of October 5. Thank you for joining us.
Last week was surreal.
Blogging influencer Neil Patel from QuickSprout contacted me! For the last two weeks I kept asking men to contribute to my Thursday Weekly Roundup since recently I’ve only had submissions from women. I finally heard from a man who wants to submit to the Weekly Roundup, and it was Neil Patel!
He asked if he could contribute his new SEO post. I, of course, wrote, absolutely, yes! I was so excited I never told him that I need the post before Thursday or that I follow his blog.
Although I was thrilled that Neil Patel wrote me, I have to assume that was a fluke. If anyone has any blogging, writing, search engine optimization, social media, productivity, or technology posts they would like me to promote on my weekly feature, please put the link in the comments section.
I started a new section at the Weekly Roundup this week, Blogging Events. If anyone is having a Meet and Greet, please let me know in the comments section.
My friend Debby Kaye asked if she could interview me on her blog. I’ve been interviewed on a panel before, but never alone on a blog. I indicated there must be some mistake since her blog features author interviews, and other than my blog, I am not a published author. She assured me there was no mistake.
On Saturday my friend Tim Gatewood published Best Recent Articles on My Favorite Blogs. I not only made the cut, but Tim featured four of my articles.
On Tuesday, my guest blogger authored a post sharing his extensive, and often advanced, knowledge of Search Engine Optimization. Many wrote in to say they did not understand the post. Due to computer trouble, my guest author could not comment in order to clarify reader confusion. Ironically, the post has far more page views and likes than I would have predicted considering the technical aspects, and it was promoted on two additional blogs!
On Saturday, I published a fun post about how to expedite and improve on the effectiveness of your blogging tasks by memorizing acronyms for blogging to-do lists.
On Sunday I wrote a guide to understanding and using Reddit. Predictably, reaction to the social bookmarking site has been mixed, both on the blog and on Facebook where the post was discussed. I was hoping by writing the guide, people would have a better understanding about the ease of using Reddit to get traffic to your blog.
Now, let’s talk about you.
I was looking for two inspirational posts. I had my work cut out for me since I was torn among five.
This may sound unusual, but the first post I enjoyed was Monster Bookmarks. The irony is that I enjoyed it for a different reason than the blogger Liz Mays. Liz approached her post from the perspective of promoting the upcoming Goose Bumps movie. I saw it from the perspective of promoting literacy.
The post evoked a memory for me. Years ago, when the Goose Bumps author R. L. Stine came to the UCLA Book Fair, thrilled, I asked my three children to go meet him. None of them wanted to go. Now here we are years later with paper becoming rapidly obsolete. Mays does not acknowledge the Digital Age. She gives instructions on how to make Goose Bumps book marks so colorful and easy children would want to read the Goose Bumps series on paper or otherwise.
The other post I enjoyed was The Biggest Decluttering Mistake You Don’t Know You’re Making. I can use decluttering tips, I’m sure many of you could use decluttering tips. Emily, the admin blogger, only has one tip which I can sum up in three words (yes, there is a spoiler alert here). The three words are… Don’t touch it.
How you are supposed to declutter without touching the clutter, and what the movie the Terminator has to do with any of this is the subject of this post, a post, I might add that is actually based on sensory research.
We had 343 links submitted last week. The post clicked on the most often was… PUMPKIN BREAD WITH STREUSEL TOPPING AND MAPLE GLAZE.
Congratulations to the winners!
Although it is not required, it is considered polite to follow your hostess!
That’s me! Welcome! I’m Janice!
Meet Your Other Hostesses
The linkup is now on seven blogs, so your one post will be seen on my blog plus six other blogs!
Each host picks their own two favorites. In addition to exposure here, graphics from the winning posts are pinned to the Inspire Me Monday Pinterest Board. The party is live until Thursday morning.
