Why Are Some Bloggers Killing Off Comments Being Left on Their Blogs?

Hugh Roberts discusses a controversial issue in blogging: Should you keep the comments section on your blog or get rid of it?

If you want to see Hugh’s position and why he maintains it, you’ll have to read his post.

The most popular post at the last Inspire Me Monday Linky Party was New Chandelier For the Porch.

Congratulations to the winners!

Although not required, for arranging this networking event, it is considered polite to follow your hostess. That’s me! I’m Janice!

  1. Hugh W. Roberts

Thanks so much for featuring my recent post, Janice.
    Have a great week.

    • Janice Wald

My pleasure, Hugh. You deserved it. People are actually commenting in this comment section about what you observed about the importance of comments in your post. Thanks for writing an article that is facilitating discussion on both our blogs.
      Janice

  2. Pam

Hi Janice, Thanks for hosting, as always. I loved that post about blog comments. I always get so sad when a blog doesn’t have a place to comment.

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Pam,
Great to see you! I hope you had a nice two weeks while we were on hiatus.
I agree with your comments about the importance of blog comments. In my humble opinion, they seem like part of the culture of a blog. It wouldn’t seem like a blog that has a community feel without the comments section.

  3. Ryan K Biddulph

The comments post looks fascinating Janice. I will dive in soon. Interesting how after Phill designed my new theme he took out comment links. My spam died – thankfully – and the only people commenting are interested in meaningful engagement, not getting a No Follow backlink. I love it. Plus I no longer have hundreds of broken links that affect my SEO. In that way, killing comments-links worked like a charm.

Thanks for hosting and welcome back. When do you go back. We start meetings next week and kids return on Aug 16th,

    • Janice Wald

I have to go tomorrow to get a Covid test and then meetings on August 13. I love that we have this in common.
