9 Facts About Nofollow External Backlinks: Why They Are Good for SEO

Sandeep Mehta

A decent search engine ranking is always desired by each website owner.

In order to achieve it, we must put our efforts on On-Page SEO tactics along with Off-Page strategies.

But, as we know, Off-Page SEO is totally different from On-Page in terms of implementation and results. We must focus on our backlink building techniques. Getting backlinks from high authority websites is one of the greatest Off-Page SEO techniques of all time. But, there is another contention around these backlink building techniques and that is the effectiveness of Do-Follow and No-Follow external backlinks.

According to Google, No-Follow backlinks have the characteristic of not passing link juice. They are also not able to promote website rankings. Still, if we go through some studies done by many SEO experts, we can justify the areas of the impact of these No-Follow links in SEO. Below are 9 Facts which will help us know why No-Follow external backlinks are good for SEO.

  1. No-Follow external backlinks gather you traffic.

If a No-Follow backlink is coming to your website from a big and relevant website, it will definitely help you to get the most productive and high-quality traffic. Whether this link helps you in search engine optimization is questionable, but it will surely help you to get the referral traffic from the source websites. Once we start getting good traffic on our website, it will also impress the search engines too.

2. Your site looks natural.

The search engine uses different algorithms to evaluate the genuineness of a website. Therefore, if the crawlers find your website natural and clean, only then you will get good rankings. There must be a balance between Do-Follow and No-Follow backlinks. If you have a maximum percentage of Do-Follow backlinks on your site, it will adversely impact your SEO. Due to this, it becomes necessary to focus on the No-Follow links if we want to successfully implement our SEO strategies.

3. It promotes PA, DA, and other website metrics.

Google and other search engines will not consider No-Follow backlinks as a search engine ranking factor, but, other websites like Moz, Ahrefs, etc. evaluate different website parameters on the basis of links including

  • PA (Page Authority)
  • DA (Domain Authority)
  • Trust Score
  • Spam score etc.

This is the biggest reason your SEO consultant will always guide you not to ignore the effectiveness of No-Follow Backlinks.

4. Brand Awareness

Good brand awareness is the most required factor for businesses. No-Follow backlinks can help you with this. Since these links do not have positive or negative effects directly on the search engines, they can be used anywhere anytime. You can put a no-follow tag to your links when you are using that link only for the promotion of your website. There will be no restrictions on low or high-quality links. These links are widely utilized on the popular social media platform like Facebook, YouTube, etc.

5. Possible to pass link juice from authoritative websites.

Search Engine King said itself that we do not consider No-Follow backlinks while crawling the off-page parameters of a website. But, what if a well-ranked website which is getting a huge load of traffic from a search engine gives a No-follow link to a small website? It will possibly encourage the search engine crawlers to have a look at those linked pages too. It is the main reason why an SEO expert chooses No-Follow link building in his or her SEO strategies.

6. No worries about Search Engine Penalties.

This is another great feature of No-Follow backlinks. As we discussed earlier, these links do not harm your website no matter how many no-follow links you have made for your website. Even if you have 100% No-Follow backlinks, you will never get penalized from the search engines. The reason is that the search engines take this link as a reference. These links do not pass link juice. So, it is good to get the most out of these links. If you did not get positive effects from these links, you will not get negative ones either.

7. Chances to get Do-Follow links.

If you have no-follow links from high authority websites, then it increases the chances for you to get follow links from other webmasters. This is because your site becomes more worthy and powerful if it is linked with other strong websites. So, it is good to get different no-follow backlinks from high authority websites. You will be able to create a good impression on others and they will automatically start linking to your website automatically.

8. Create Social Signals.

Most of the search engines including Google have stated that a website having good social signals are more likely to achieve good rankings. Websites like Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Pinterest allow their users to get No-Follow links. And these links are very much effective in SEO. By getting lots of social signals for your website, you can easily start getting high search engine rankings. Your SEO consultant will be better aware of this. They also focus on creating social signals while doing SEO projects on their client’s websites.

9. Helps to understand SEO.

When you put continuous efforts to create Do-follow or No-follow links, you collect experience. You will understand the depth of SEO while doing all these tactics. Once you get familiar with these techniques, you will find their effects and benefits for your website and its rankings. It is the most important thing that you can learn while making backlinks for your website. So, while making these links, try to understand their importance for your rankings as well as business.

Conclusion: Nofollow External Backlinks

These were some benefits of No-Follow Backlinks for SEO. There are lots of confusions about these links on the internet and it might be possible with your SEO consultant too. But, creating these links will never have negative effects on your rankings. So, try to make high-quality and relevant links so that you can improve your search engine rankings on a permanent basis.

Well, I do consider no follow links for my blog. They are more powerful and underestimated one. I think there is a correlation between no follow links and site ranking. Although there is no direct evidence it does help to build authority and trust. And is not just limited to PA, DA metrics. Thanks, AMazing Work.
