ETIQUETTE IN SOCIAL MEDIA – 4 BLOGGING FACTS I RECENTLY REALIZED KEEPS MY FOLLOWERS HAPPY

Some of my readers have expressed that my ideas seem unorthodox. For example, my advice about visiting sites of bloggers that visit you has been questioned. Since Elle Knowles has echoed the same sentiments, I am sharing her post.
Welcome to my brand new series–Reblog Thursday. I have decided to reblog on Thursdays instead of writing original material in order to spend more time networking with my readers.

Thanks so much for the re-blog Janice. You will keep me busy visiting sites today to prove my point! 😉 Welcome one and all! haha! ~Elle

Janice, I think your suggestions are very good. The key to a blog’s success seems to me to be twofold: good content and responsiveness. It is important to visit other people’s blogs both for learning from and for supporting them. I think Elle’s idea of visiting and commenting at least a few times a month is very good. Some people post so often that I have a hard time actually deciding which post to read and comment on, but I try to give everyone attention. And, of course, it is fun reading about what other people do and think.

      Hi Beth,
Thanks for writing. As far as your comment about the frequency of people posting: at first people warned I’d overwhelm my readers by writing frequently. Then, I spoke to people who had been blogging successfully for years, and they said it would help grow your readership faster. I have found that to be true. As far as feeling overwhelmed, many of my readers work outside the home and read my posts on the weekends or when time allows.
I agree with you. It is fun reading what other people think. Thanks again for the comments.

Nice idea. I don’t re-blog at all, except sharing my posts on other contributor sites.

      Hi!
Nice to meet you. I have only reblogged a handful of times. I have been writing recently about the importance of networking but find I am too busy researching, writing, promoting, my blog that I don’t have ample time. Also, I am so fortunate that many have reblogged me. This way I can “pay it forward” and reblog others as well as having more time to network. Thank you for reading my reblog and writing me.

A super idea for a series, one that supports and promotes others! Love it.

Thank you so much. I am fortunate that others have reblogged me, so this is my chance to “pay it forward” and give back to the community that has been so supportive of my writing. I will add you to my mailing list (it comes out once a week), so you never miss one of my reblogs.
Nice to meet you. Thanks for reading what I wrote and writing me.

Exactly, I answer my comments daily and always, always visit those and comment on those that visit me. It is the correct polite thing to do.

Does that include people who are already your followers who click “like”?
Thanks for writing Rae! Nice to hear from you. I still have your promotion tips information ready to go. You know I consider you and Lysa queens of promotion, so I’d like to know. I’m assuming it includes those that visit you, who are already following you, and click “like”. Am I correct?

Excellent share Janice and Elle. I recently did a post on this very same thing. It was surprising to learn that so many didn’t realize that using the share buttons shares our words to others and invites new readers to our blogs. Reblogging is also great. I do this at least once a week to share great info for my readers and bring new readers to the person’s blog I share. I definitely noticed a lot more of my posts shared on FB and twitter after I wrote about it. 🙂

      Hi Debby,
Thank you so much for your comments. I really appreciate them. Sometimes I worry I am sharing information that is too basic. Thank you so much for the validation.

Hi Janice. I don’t believe any info is ever too basic. Many well established writers will admit to not having full comprehension of how the ‘sharing’ system works. We write for everyone, the new writers and the old. Every post will have something more tailored to certain groups of people. That’s what’s great about blogging, the versatility. 🙂

I agree. My followers have a such a differing knowledge-base. I hope I produce something for everyone.
