Ahrefs says cancellation of the trial will not limit account functionalities as you have already purchased 7 days' of usage so your Lite/Standard access will be available until the end of the trial. Per my experience this wasn't true. When I cancelled my trial, my ability to access Keyword Explorer stopped. They do send you a billing reminder that tells you which day you would get debited.
During the paid trial, you can toggle freely between Lite and Standard plans. However, upgrading to Advanced or Agency will trigger a payment.
Ahrefs does not tolerate any abuse of paid trials as it goes against the initial intent of allowing new users to try out the features. They have systems in place to detect abuse of trials, your account may be blocked if such activities are discovered.

Login Details Not Received

I got a purchase confirmation, but for some reason I didn't receive my login details. I sent a message from the site through chat and I literally got an answer in minutes.

Before you start, I recommend that you make a folder on your computer where you save all your keyword research data. You will be using this data in the coming months.

Once you’re in, Ahrefs will prompt you to add a project (i. e. website) to your account.

This is pretty straightforward—give your project a name and hit “next”. Make sure to use the http + https naming scheme.

Then it is recommended to verify ownership. Click recheck when you uploaded the verification file.

You’ll then be asked to add keywords that you want to track.

Ahrefs actually suggests a bunch of keywords that your website is already ranking for. Basically, the higher up the list of suggestions they are, the more traffic those keywords are sending to your website.

I recommend adding the first 4-5 pages worth of keywords by clicking the + sign.

This allows you to track your most important keywords (i. e. the keywords that are the most traffic to your website).

And finally, add some branded keywords to track.

Then add some competitors.

Again, you can either add competitors manually (if you know them) or choose from the suggestions Ahrefs gives.

You can add up to 5 competitors, from the suggestions Ahrefs gives or ones that you know.

Note: By default, Ahrefs sends you daily emails about these keywords. If you prefer not to have daily emails flooding your inbox, go into the settings and change this to weekly (or monthly).

Then you will be shown the rankings of your website on this screen:

Now let's compare this to my Google Search Console data. As you can see on the below screenshot, there is quite a but discrepancy. Unfortunately no tool is perfect, Google reports 5 times as many clicks.
