Cinco de Mayo Blog Party

Blogger Meet and Greet

Welcome to our Cinco de Mayo Blog Party!

Consider this comment from British author and blogger Gary Jefferies:

That’s what’s so fascinating about this medium. People from all over the globe just getting on, enjoying the community and, well, getting on. It’s refreshing given my news stations tell me the opposite and that globally we aren’t… Well, I have news for them…we are so go get your facts right…

I agree! Since Cinco de Mayo was just two days ago, to celebrate our diversity, let’s celebrate with a Cinco de Mayo party!

In the comments section, you are encouraged to self-promote.

Introduce your blog to the other guests at the party. Tell the readers about your blog, and post a link to your favorite post, a recent post, your About page, your blog link, or anything you like.

If you are not already following Mostly Blogging, I like new subscribers too!

At today’s party, we are having cake.

Enjoy the cake and the networking.

I am hoping others will be able to find new blogs to read and new bloggers to connect with.

I will be holding these opportunities for bloggers to network twice a month.

Guests, if you think others would enjoy the networking opportunities at the Blogger Meet and Greet, please share on your social media.  The more guests at the party, the more networking opportunities for all of us.

If you get a chance to promote the link to this party on your site, that would also be much appreciated since it would help make others aware of this blog party.

      Hello Janice,

Lovely to meet you, I’m Gary ?

I could thread that into a treatise on oldsters memory loss and suggest that is why grasping social networking is a shade tricky. Not that I’m old, that relative thing again…my kids point it out though…only folk in existence that have ever been 16 and exams are the most traumatic thing in the world and I just can’t understand how it feels… Old head on new shoulders cliche lives strong. What can you do though?

I should really go and make my own post now ?

      • Janice Wald | at 9:12 pm

        Hi Gary,
Nice to meet you too. I am Janice =).
My middle daughter Hayley is having stress, trauma, due to exam stress.
Regarding difficulty learning social media, it’s not a test or anything. Look at my articles while you engage. You and I have engaged on social media I recall. You did just fine. Confidence could be half the battle. Thanks for coming to my blog party on Saturday.

Cool name is Hayley…but exams…yes…parent knows nothing, hardest tests ever contrived and impossible to conceive I ever did any so what do I know type of thing. And sleep…do teenage boys sleep…especially at weekends and, alarm clocks…my eldest has two..one by his bed and the other on the far side of his room and yet….he turns both off then goes back to bed…quite funny really as I keep varying the alarm times just for a wheeze.

Confidence is half the battle indeed…the other half is time management. I have a theory of why time is a constant…it’s actually an illusionary constant. When you’ve got loads to do it contracts but balances out by expanding when you’ve run out of things and get bored. You can witness that whilst bored and finding something to do and poof…it contracts again. Same with age….as a youngling in triple chemistry it goes backwards…contrast that with me looking at my emails and think how has Friday come round so quick? Simple really…time borrows from me to compensate losses in the kids thereby keeping clocks ticking uniformly… Happens when you sleep too…one moment it’s late go to bed the next it’s time to get up…ever wondered why we have time zones? Easy…the awakes are robbing the asleeps of time…. Keeps balance and order….then again maybe I should just go seek psychological help ?

      Hello Janice

      Hi, Janice,
Thanks for hosting this party…I just love your commitment, generosity, imaginative themes, and the opportunity to share and to reap the benefits of positive connections with creative, kind, and wonderful people who are determined to add good to the world. Your blog is just so fantastic!!!!!!

      • Janice Wald | at 9:19 pm

        Hi Truly,
Thank you so much for the amazingly kind words about my blog and me. My only regret is that it took me five days to come say “thank you.”
I did read your glowing comments last Saturday when they came in. I wish you could have seen my smile. It seriously lit up the room.
Please know– much appreciated. Thank you for coming to my blog party on Saturday as well.

Oops, forgot to introduce myself…My name is Truly, I’m a social worker by day (mental health clinician) and a dreamer the rest of the time 🙂 I love writing–and I’m particularly crazy about writing from a uniquely-imaginative, whimsical, amusing and philosophical perspective. Wow, look how far I’ve come–I (nearly) unflinchingly tooted my own horn…I’m learning to fully-embrace the gift God has given me…and that includes offering to share with others. Perhaps you’d like to check out my latest post–“Stupor-Sti-Shun Ain’t The Way”…it’s pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. And, I say that with humility…the words come through me, not from me…all I get credit for is having the perseverance to ‘get out of my head’ so that I don’t interfere with the process. Also, I am really excited and grateful for the opportunity to discover some amazing bloggers, blogs, and posts…I am already in the enviable position of having become great friends with Gary–a brilliant writer, and a fantastic human being–and I really look forward to meeting you…please stop by, even if it’s just to say “hi” 🙂 Thanks for being here, and I hope you have a great weekend. 🙂

She mad Janice…totally mad….be warned….then again she’s also one of my best blogging friends too. Generous in mind and spirit. That is part of the meaning in the quote you used above. I came to blogging with nothing apart from a feeling of dread and from that I’ve met people like you and Truly. If you want to know what the spirit of social networking (my opinion) gives me it’s community, friends and support.

Traffic flow is still a 1000 piece jigsaw of baked beans…with or without the picture it’s still a WTF ?

        • Janice Wald | at 3:28 pm

          Hi again Gary,
I’m still stalking you at the party. (Isn’t that what stalkers do? They stalk.)
1,000 piece jigsaw of baked beans… too funny.
Where did you go to creativity school? I want to take a class! =).
By the way, you are one of my best blogging friends too. Awww…
I did see your comment when I woke up last Saturday. I wish you could have seen the big smile it put on my face over here in California. Thank you! Means a lot!

Hmm….next you will be seeking large sums of money for a can’t miss opportunity in some offshore account after which I will never see you again ?

Note to watching MIB overseers….that was a joke…ckearly Janice is full of integrity and such funds would be onshore and appropriate taxes paid in full ?

You live in California…and need my post to make you smile??? Seriously? You live in California….reality check…it rains lots here….how nice and green say people from overseas….yes, that’s because it £@!?ing rains a lot !!

Creativity class…now there’s a thing…I don’t class myself as creative…arty and I are ancient enemies….book cover design error….well, prevarication….no idea…creative though….me…. Seriously….all I came up with was baked beans there….uniform in colour and shape…not uber creative really….but, paradoxically, entirely the right metaphor for social media. Seems you are a node….according to some social media course I just did ?

Although I’m not entirely sure that’s a compliment..it might have some unfathomable geek synonym for something else entirely….?

      • Truly | at 11:29 am

        Hi, Michelle,
I was privileged to read your post….and I left a comment…so great to meet you….I’m “following” you….I hope you have a great weekend 🙂

      • Janice Wald | at 9:31 pm

        Hi Michelle,
Salud! You are the first person to make that toast to me! Thank so much for the kind words about my blog. Sorry I couldn’t get by sooner to thank you for coming to my party. Papers to grade (I know you understand) and sick dogs to care for.

Thank you so much for linking me in the intro. I feel quite strongly (adverbs and authors…very bad..but this is a comment so pffft to that). I’ve found this community amazing. And by that I mean a priori my expectations were slight. But that soon changed when I looked at my insights page and stared at the countries supplying views. It’s staggering. All I can see is a world filled with the sorts of people you want running countries or having a hand in it because wherever I go here folk are just friendly, help out, suggest things and support. As an slightly older newbie now I can’t do anything but heap accolades on all the wonderful people here.

Alas the same cannot be said of politicos and media coverage….I have a whole crate load of soap for boxing that one about. Six times already today I have seen interviews with the words “just to be absolutely clear” bandied about…red rag to a bull stuff….start with that and you just know they are about to pontificate prattle for twenty minutes saying nothing at all and then smile in the manner of a synchronised swimmer and believe they have inspired us with some awesome validation on the subject they are being clear about ?

I digress…who am I….British author so says Janice…but she is really nice….I write, yes….have a few books awaiting editing, although one is currently with a proofer so that’s drawing close to deciding on the publishing method…but it is for readers to decide if it’s any good, not me ?

If you feel so inclined I can be found on the link below…but know this unwary blogger….I have a policy….if you like any comment or post I make then I simply have to return the kindness. This is generally a comment diatribe, just to be absolutely clear ? and a follow….so be warned ?

    https://fictionisfood.wordpress.com/about/

    • Janice Wald | at 9:38 pm

      Hi Gary,
I loved your “diatribe”. It actually inspired me. After reading how we all get along (despite what the politicians of our various countries think), I was curious to see what countries are reading my blog today.
In order– the U.S., the UK, Canada, India, and Nigeria made the top five. How about you?
How did you get the happy faces upside down? I’d love a happy face tip. Thanks again for coming to my blog party on Saturday.

This catching up once a week lark is pretty cool…in a weird way…well, not too weird, it makes Saturday mornings most interesting…as do my country stats. I have 50 different countries tracking into my blog….from Peru to Botswana…. Today’s stats are slim but most of the countries watching are asleep ?

Happy smiley upside down face is on the IOS keyboard layouts…there must be a keyboard code for it but I’ve not found it yet…

Oh, hang about last weeks stats in order were

Spain, UK, USA, Canada and India

Spain catches me out big time…on Facebook most of my page likes are from Spain….I don’t get that at all ?

    Hello Janice and fellow bloggers!

My name is Tina and I write at http://beachbodybliss.com

Although I’ve had my blog for a bit over a year I have only been really active with it since last fall so I’m new to all of this and have a lot to learn and changes to make along the way.

At my blog you will find me writing about all things fitness: my personal journey, workouts that I love, tips, motivation, clean eating recipes, fitness related gear, hiking and other outdoor adventures (so there’s some lifestyle stuff thrown in) and at some point I’ll be adding some free content like a quick start fitness guide and more!

I’m also very active on Instagram and will follow back ? Find me at “teepadron” and at “beachbodybliss” on Twitter!

Looking forward to others introductions! Have a great weekend!

My name is Andrea, and my blog is Andrea’s Wellness Notes. I started blogging 7 years ago as a way to re-focus on myself and the good in my life. It’s a space for me to share tips and what I’ve learned about health, wellness, exercise, recipes, and travel in the San Francisco Bay area and beyond.

Many of my recent posts focus on style, as I think it’s important to take care of ourselves, especially as we are getting older.

I live in the huge state of Alaska and I have two blogs. The one I promote here is http://myideaofparadiseetc.blogspot.com/2016/05/only-3-come-from-new-world.html where I write on anything and everything that catches my fancy. I tend to geek out and research things that I have questions on or that interest me. I love coming here to Janice’s get togethers. Don’t be surprised if one day I talk about spring and the next vanilla. I enjoy just writing and this blog gives me a chance to research to my hearts content.

Hello! I’m happy to be back. It’s been awhile since I’ve joined in and this is a lovely group.

I am a writing instructor, autism mama, ghost writer, #LinkYourLife co-hostess and otvmagazine.com editor (among other things) in Bloomington, IN. When it comes to my work, teaching is my first love. There have been a considerable number of roadblocks this year when it comes to setting up classes, but I have a couple of retreats coming up that I’ve very excited to share. The best part of these is that there is an option to gift.

One of these is for women and is focused on body love. It would make a great Mother’s Day gift! You can read a bit of my body love story here: http://honeyquill.com/2016/04/15/3997/
