affiliate marketing programs

Do you know what my 4th best-performing post of this year is?

An article about affiliate marketing programs.

Clearly, there’s interest in affiliate marketing programs.

There should be! You will earn a handsome commission when you become an affiliate marketer.

Many bloggers opt to monetize by becoming affiliates.

In all this time, this blogging tips site has only recommended one affiliate marketing program: Kingged’s affiliate program.

Guest author and e-commerce expert Gaurav Kumar is here to describe the many options when it comes to affiliate marketing programs.

Do you Know How to Make Money with Top Paying Affiliate Marketing Programs?

Do you want to make more money blogging?

You may be thinking:  Why is he asking such a silly question?

Of course, you want. Actually, everyone wants to make money online.

Why?

Because it is easy. You need not work under a boss. You can work whenever you want and from wherever you want.

Blogging is the best way to make money online. Even I am making thousands of dollars every month.

Yet, many bloggers are not able to make even $1 in a whole month. There are many reasons why there is a huge difference between the earning of bloggers.

The main reason is the method bloggers use to make money online.

If you are the one who is thinking that just using Adsense on your blog you will make millions then you are wrong at some point.

I am not saying that Adsense is not good enough. Adsense is the best contextual ad-network, but only a blogger who is getting a million page views can make thousands of dollars from Adsense. Making money from Adsense is not easy as it was in the early era. Adsense CPC rate is dropping.

Now you may ask that what the best way to make money online is?

Without any doubt, I can say it`s Affiliate Marketing.

Ohh Wow, is affiliate marketing a new word for you? Or you haven’t tried it till now?

Lol, you are missing the serious opportunity to make huge money from even a single ad.

It`s ok I am here to help you.

Affiliate marketing is the way to make money blogging. In affiliate marketing, you will promote the products and services of other businesses by placing affiliate ads on your blog. When your efforts generate a sale, you will earn a handsome commission. The commission can be anywhere between 20%-70% in most cases.

For example: if you have generated a lead that converted into the sale for a product worth $100 and commission percentage is 20%, then you will earn $20.

On the other hand, using affiliate marketing has several benefits to bloggers like you. These can include:

  • Partnerships: When you work as an affiliate, you can create valuable partnerships that can be beneficial for your blogging business in the future. By doing affiliate marketing, you’re able to find connections, meet new people, and open doors to new money-making opportunities.
  • Flexibility: This is another benefit of affiliate marketing that you should consider. With this method, you have the option to promote various types of products using your blog posts and website. Not only that, you’re not required to buy products in advance before you can market them. Lastly, as an affiliate, you can charge your own commission tiers and fees associated with your work, making it much easier and faster for you to generate more money.

So you see it is much more than Adsense CPC, where usually you get $0.03-$1 in most cases.

Now as you know what is affiliate marketing, let`s learn how you can make money with affiliate programs. But if you’re new to this marketing method, it may be best if you work with an online marketing coach or someone whose expertise revolves around different digital marketing solutions, including affiliate marketing blogging. They can help you get familiar with the fundamentals of affiliate marketing for beginners. As a result, you can get the most out of your affiliate marketing efforts to earn more money in the long run.

Now that you’re equipped with the best possible knowledge about affiliate marketing, it’s time to become a great affiliate. To help you get started, you just need to follow the steps below to choose the best program according to your niche and it will convert anything.

1) Choose the right affiliate program:

Are you running a technology blog and promoting health drinks on that?

Lol, you will never make a single sale.

Always stick with your niche.

Choose the right affiliate program. Always look for what your readers want from your blog and offer similar products.

For example: If you are running a blog on iOS, then you should place affiliate ads of iOS apps and iOS devices. These will convert at a good rate as your readers have an interest in them.

2) Use the right tools to find affiliate marketing programs:

There are thousands of affiliate programs available for every niche.

Now, how will you decide which is best?

I have found a really easy way to find the best affiliate program according to your niche and that is using “Affilitizer plugin”.

This is the only plugin that even helps you to find affiliate marketing programs using Google search.

3) Always stick with the popular marketplace:

When it comes to choosing an affiliate marketing program, I also recommend you using the popular affiliate marketplace.

The best thing about this marketplace is that they do not have any huge traffic requirements.

The popular affiliate marketplace is Shareasale, CJ, Clickbank, Impact Radius etc.

There are in-house affiliate programs also available, but I prefer the marketplace because at one place you find all the affiliate programs. It saves a lot of time.

4) Read TOS [Terms of Service]:

I have heard from various affiliate marketers that they are not getting paid on time or they have not checked the policies of affiliate programs.

Never make such a mistake.

Always read the TOS of every affiliate program before joining such as commission, payment day, payment options, any threshold payment limit etc.

5) Test and review:

The best way to promote an affiliate product is to test first and then write a healthy review. A healthy review means that you should not only write what the product is all about but you should also talk about the pros and cons.

A good review always is neutral. You just tell everything and recommend only if you find it helpful for your readers.

Remember: You can only generate affiliate sales if you strongly offer what your readers already need.

There is no doubt that more sales mean more money. There are bloggers like me who are making 70% of total earnings from affiliate sales only.

Starting with affiliate marketing is easy and even a newbie blogger can start making money just by writing compelling content.

I have been an affiliate marketer for more than 3 years and I never regretted my decision.

So if you want to make more money blogging, then affiliate marketing is for you.

If you still have any questions, feel free to ask me.

  8. Rebecca Forstadt Olkowski

I like affiliate marketing better than doing sponsored posts because I can write about what I like and then link the text. It seems more authentic because I’m not writing about a product I am not necessarily thrilled with just to make money. I like CJ, Shareasale, and Linkshare the best so far as well as Amazon and Adsense.

    • Janice Wald

Wow Rebecca! It sounds like you have a lot of experience with this. Thank you for coming by with your comments to offer as your recommendations.
      Janice

  9. Yasar Ali

    Nice List Dear,
In addition to this, I would like you to compile a list of best recurring affiliate sites that pay higher commission EVER.

    Thanks.

  10. Davida Chazan

For my book review blog, I’ve joined up with every affiliate program for books you can think of, and some I’m sure you didn’t know existed! Amazon, Barnes & Nobel, eBooks, iTunes, Book Depository, Kobo, Alibris, Better World Books and Indiebound! My only problem is, how do I get people to click and BUY through my ads and links!

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Davida,
Yours is the million dollar question (no pun intended =)). I’ve written the author, Gaurav, and told him you had a question. Thanks for writing and asking.
      Janice

    • Gaurav Kumar

      Hi Davida,

I am glad that you have asked this question. This is the same question, I have been asked many times.

The answer is simple. You cannot force anyone to buy what you are offering or click your ads.

Affiliate marketing only works the best when you understand your readers and find out what they are looking for on your blog.

For example, if you know that they are coming on your blog for a book review that means they are interested in buying the same book and you should promote the same book.

But if you are writing about some other books but showing different books in affiliate links, then it will be hard to get sales.

Also if you can educate your readers about the benefits of each book in very promosing manner then you will be able to sell maximum books.

Still have question, ask me again.

      • Davida Chazan

Thanks. In fact, I give affiliate links in my book reviews to only the books I’m writing about. Strangely enough, only about two of the sales I’ve had so far have been for the books that I’ve written about! I’ve chalked up several other book sales as well, but they’re all very few and far between. I guess it is just as they say, “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.”

        • Gaurav Kumar

yes, but if you lead a thirsty horse to the water, he will definitely drink.

  11. Susan Velez

    Hi Kumar,

Great tips on affiliate marketing. I actually removed Google Adsense from my blog because I was only making pennies. While there are many bloggers who make money through ads, the truth is that you have to have a lot of traffic.

I don’t have a lot of traffic yet, so I wasn’t willing to keep losing my visitors for just pennies.

Personally, I have found that affiliate marketing is more profitable for my blog. While it isn’t making a lot it is nice to see my hard working paying off.

I have personally found that my how-to tutorials are the best way to get people to my affiliate links.

I haven’t written a lot of reviews, maybe it’s time that I sit down and write one.

Thanks for sharing these tips have a great day 🙂

    Susan

    • Gaurav Kumar

      Hi Susan,

There is no doubt that affiliate earning is way more than Adsense earning. Affiliate marketing is also helpful for your readers as you offer them the same thing what they are already looking for.

How to articles are always helpful to boost affiliate sales as they also educate readers how to use the product and service.

      Glad you like it 🙂

  12. Debbie

    Hello Gaurav,

Thanks for this informative post. Affiliate Marketing is one of the best ways to make money online. I remember the days when I have earned $300 commission by promoting affiliate program on my blog. After that it is my primary way to monetize my blog. AdSense indeed a good program but for passive and massive income affiliate marketing is best. Great post.

    Have a great day 🙂

Please delete one comment. It was submitted twice due to internet problem. I apologize for this. I didn’t want to make it twice or spam the comment. Its happens due to net issue. Hope you understand.

  17. Sara

Gaurav, a great introduction to affiliate marketing. It’s sad to me when people work really hard for pennies when they could be leveraging their influence and time with affiliate marketing instead. I’m not talking Amazon affiliates either.

No, you need to really investigate the companies and products you align yourself with. Think big-ticket items like training or courses. Those are going to bring in 100’s per referral.

I highly recommend Lynn Terry (just google her) she’s been in this for 15+ years. NAMS is another great source of information – training.

Thanks for hosting Janice, always good stuff.

Great Article, Affiliate marketing is definitely a good idea for bloggers to implement. With the higher payouts you will stand to make alot more money then you will from adsense. You can also make money from affiliate marketing by just having a simple landing page where you are giving away a free gift and promote it on facebook then promote the affiliate product in the email follow up. It’s just another way to make money online using affiliate marketing. Thanks for the google chrome extension. That is a fabulous idea to find even more affiliate programs.

Thank you for the articel. Very insightful and helpful. However, I came acorss other affiliates who favor AdThrive to Google Adsense. Did you try Adthrive before? Would you recommend trying it or just sticking to Adsense and why?
    Thank you.

    • Janice Wald

      Hi Rachid,
Your question is timely. I will tell you why. Tomorrow, October 6 at 8:00 pm Pacific Standard Time, My guest author, Peter Nyiri, is explaining how he set up our Mostly Blogging Academy on my site using Thrive tools.
Another one of my guest authors, Treathyl, wrote this post about how she makes a nice affiliate income using Google Adsense. Google Adsense is popular for a reason– I believe in good word of mouth.
Here is her article explaining why she likes Google Adsense and how she makes affiliate income by using Google Adsense.
